Would be another 180 degree policy change.

yet they jumped at the chance for one reason only.... Nokia has wide and positive brand recognition.

The FAQ has this:

Quote

Nokia Smart Lighting products use advanced communication and control protocols that are not supported by other smart home hubs and bridges you may already have.

Taken literally, that means that they've tweaked the protocol and they won't work with existing Insteon devices. However, it also says:

At launch the Nokia Smart Lighting app will support only Nokia Smart Lighting devices. We plan to also support some of the most popular Insteon products in the future.

Which implies that the Nokia hub may work with Insteon devices (and that the app just needs changes).  But it's not at all clear if an existing Insteon controller (PLM/hub) would be able to control Nokia devices.

The specs seem pretty similar to Insteon but there is one that's interesting:

Software updatable: Yes

So, who's going to be the first to pre-order some?

It'll work if manually linked to a device. They can be add to the Isy but it shows as an unsupported device since the firmware isn't in the Isy database. The isy will control the devices but device status doesn't update.

Ditto for the new hub with insteon devices. It'll recognize what you add, just can't link them with Nokia devices and no status if manually controlled.

The devices does have upgradeable firmware. One thing the article left off is the switches can be either a dimmer or a relay

There's no smart bulb.

Understand. Looks like the articles have been updated with the correct product information after the new embargo was lifted.
