ISY in Safe Mode

You can't restore a PLM with ISY firmware that doesn't support a PLM.  Before you dig yourself deeper in a hole, try installing the firmware I suggested.

I’m not sure where you got that information but you absolutely can. As I have been using that alternative firmware since it’s first release and now too.

I have two controllers that have Insteon and ZigBee both of which restore fine when needed.

Just wanted to offer that insight and clarification for those reading this thread.

There is a way to test the PLM independently but it is not totally easy thing to do.

You need the Insteon Serial Port cable in the PLM box. Maybe in the folds of the cradle holding the PLM in the box. A serial port on the computer. BusyRats PLM test program or Docklight Scripting program. You can get and run it in the demo mode. DockLight Scripting was what they had us uses. When the Insteon Developers Group was active.

Docklight Scripting is the easier on the use. As I have a modified test program you can use and then pick tests from a menu. Sends it basic commands and you should get a response back if it is working.

Are the RX and TX LEDs on the ISY994i flashing. When you try and access the PLM?

Thanks everyone!  I just ordered a Polisy Pro.  Hopefully one of my PLMs will be ok.

Was going to get one later this year, but what the heck ?.

Are you thinking of ISY on Polisy as a replacement for your ISY-994?  Be aware that while ISY on Polisy is a thing and works, there is not a migration path at this point.  To switchover to using ISY on Polisy you will need to factory reset each device and add them one by one, then recreate all your programs.  For small systems that's not out of the questions.  For larger systems that could be a gigantic project.

Well, I'm retired and enjoy doing puzzles.  That is how I'm going to look at it.  ?

I would say I have have about 40 Insteon devices and an equal number of hidden TP-Link devices.  I'll just do one room at a time and re-write my programs.  I'm copying them to text files right now, as a matter of fact.

Also - I'm currently running Polyglot with three nodes on my Raspberry Pi (along with a Plex server on that thing).  Roomba (just to text me when it's recharged itself), TP-Link and Ecobee (3 smart thermostats).

I'll actually enjoy the migration, but then again we'll see when I actually start the process.

So I'll have to go to each Insteon device and reset them? Thanks for letting me know.  I have one in a ceiling fixture (forget what it's actually called  - micro switch I think.)

Thank you for the heads up!

That's the cleanest.  Factory reset the device and then add it to the new system.  There are other methods that appear to save time, but in the end you'll spend time chasing gremlins, so no net time saved.
