BMelter Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Have used an ISY in the past for our home. Now, am setting up our cabin with some remote monitoring and automation items. Here is what I am looking to do and wondering if the ISY with Z Wave is the way to go or if Polisy is the way to go. We have an ice dam prevention system that is mounted to our roof edges and gutters to prevent snow build-up and allow for runoff to head down the gutters. This system is hooked up to: - Four zones of the ice dam system each with a GE Z Wave Heavy Duty Smart Switch attached. - Weatherflow Tempest system - FortrezZ- Z Wave Plus Flood and Temperature Sensor Gen 3 What I would be looking to do is first query either the Weatherflow or FortrezZ sensor on temperature. If the temperature is between 18-35 degrees F, then check on the FortrezZ sensor probe for present of "wetness" meaning that there is snow present on the roof edge that should be melted (the snow would connect the probe contacts), then the four GE Smart Switches would be activated to melt the snow. Once a temperature rose above or dropped below the range or no wetness was present, the Smart Switches would then be turned off. If temp was too cold or too warm or no snow present, nothing would happen. Would Polisy be the way to go or would the ISY be the way to go? Many thanks!
MrBill Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 If you can wait a bit until UDI releases the version of "ISY on Polisy" that supports z-wave via the Zooz 700 series USB stick then you only need Polisy. If you have an immediate need you could do that with an ISY-994 with Z-wave. Personally I'd prefer to wait.. the ISY994 is soon to be obsolete. 1
vbPhil Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Ditto MrBill. Issue would be the time frame. Just when is "soon to be obsolete" and when is ISY on Polisy user friendly? Sounds like I could set that up today with my ISY994i and the z-Wave module. -phil
