More future proof protocol?

I know nothing is future proof but I am wondering what you guys think is the way to go for home automation, going forward?  I have all Insteon and despite the debate, my personal opinion is that Insteon will soon be done if not already.  I hope I am wrong but I wanted to know what the other options are that are out there that  you might suggest, like Z wave or future protocols like Matter (which I know almost nothing about).  I would prefer to keep using the ISY/Polisy.

Thanks

Merry Christmas!

It seems most are turning to Zwave. I have a SiLabs Zwave dongle on my polisy now, and have tested it to a few receptacles (on a plug-in cord) that I have inherited but I believe they are early versions due to needing to be interrogated to read the power draw on them and they are really clumsy big monsters.

I am very hesitant to start committing to Zwave, and it will take a few devices to start building out a system.

On the other side of things I have purchased and using about 35 RGBCW bulbs and strips around the house which run off NRs via my NRbridge software on a RPI. I am quite happy with those but no feedback into ISY has been programmed in yet so ISY has to assume they just obey faithfully. Those are all MagicHome protocol.

We should start a sub forum of Insteon items for sale that are pulled from working environments owned by those throwing the towel. I suspect a lot of interested buyers, at the right price of course.

I have about a half dozen unopened Switchlinc Dimmers I never got around to installing.
