bhihifi Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 I can expose devices to Alexa using the ISY Portal then they can be discovered by Alexa on my mobile where I have the UD Smarthome V3 skill enabled. Is there a process to add devices to Alexa using just UD Mobile?
Javi Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 Hi @bhihifi, Alexa configuration is available for Android in Beta, this should be released soon to production. We are in the process of adding the same for iOS now. ISY Portal is required and must be linked to UD Mobile. Configuration in ISY portal will match the configuration in UD Mobile. 1
bhihifi Posted February 25, 2022 Author Posted February 25, 2022 @JaviThanks for the quick reply. I interpret your second paragraph to mean that 1) UD Mobile has to be connected to the ISY Portal and 2) nodes (devices/scenes/programs) I want controlled by Alexa must be added in the ISY Portal using the Tools dropdown. Would you mind explaining "Configuration in ISY Portal will match the configuration in UD Mobile." Thanks.
Javi Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 Hi @bhihifi, UD Mobile or ISY Portal can be used to add/edit/remove devices linked to Alexa. If added from ISY portal they will be shown in UD Mobile, if added from UD Mobile they will show on ISY Portal. In addition to a pull down list of devices, you will also be able to add/edit/remove the Spoken Names from the Devices screen in UD Mobile.
bhihifi Posted February 25, 2022 Author Posted February 25, 2022 If I add a device in iOS UD Mobile, Alexa does not discover it unless I enable it in the ISY Portal. However, the device does appear in the drop down in the Portal in the Connectivity>Amazon Echo screen.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Javi Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 Hi @bhihifi, As of today Alexa Configuration from UD Mobile is only available on Android. The same feature should be live on iOS in the very near future. Until that time ISY Portal can be used. Portal and UD Mobile use, or will use, the same Alexa database. Although, if I understand correctly, the issue is the device is not showing in ISY Portal. If this is true, does refreshing the web page work?
bhihifi Posted February 25, 2022 Author Posted February 25, 2022 @Javi, devices added by UDM do show up in the Portal, and after enabling Alexa connectivity in the Portal, show up in Alexa. My issue stemmed from misunderstanding a support ticket which led me to think iOS had the feature.
Javi Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 Hi @bhihifi, Understood. This feature should be live on iOS within the next 2 weeks. 3
