load query

Featured Replies

Is there a way to query the load on an Insteon device? For example, to be able to determine if a SL/KPL/LL is actually drawing power for a load.

I have a critical installation where it is important to "keep the lights burning" during the scheduled times. It would be quite beneficial to determine if a light bulb connected to a device has burned out, and if so send a notify.

This is a remote, unattended location and therefore, even simple things like a burned out light bulb have the potential for negative impact.

A devcie knows if it is on or off, here is how to query a single device.

Then
       Set 'Dining Hutch' Query

I am not sure why query is an argument under the set command instead of being its own command, but it works. With it being part of the set command you can not use it in the 'If' part of the code.

Actually I'm not looking for whether the device is on, rather I need to know if when the device is on there is actually a load or not.

Example: the SL is on but the light is burned out, therefore no load is drawing power.

What the guys did do however is give us the ability to tell the ISY manually if there is a load or not on the device. That way the ISY knows if there is a load or not. If you right click on a device in the 'My Network' area of the tree you can access the properties for that device. There you can tell the ISY if you have a load on the device or not.

This is one for the ISY team I think.

Dimming devices do send a NAK if there is no load on them.

Oops my bad, I did not know that.

Then the ISY could autoload the "Is Load" in the device properties that is if the PLM passes the NAK response.
