Power controlled shutters

Is there a device out there that can be controlled by the ISY that can give powered control to shutters? I'd like to pair with a light sensor so that when sun is shining on one side of the house, the shutters close and open back up when the light level falls below a certain level.

not enough information.  Indoor shutters? outdoor shutters?  how do they operate manually? Crank? pull cords? something else?

There are a lot of devices available these days, not sure if one fits your needs tho.

They’re indoor shutters, like louvered shutters. They are all linked together so each slat does not move independently of the others.

I think the first thing would be to set out to find a shutter controller that you'd be willing to use. Then it would be easier to find something that would work to control it.

If you find some with built in smarts, check to see if they have an open API. If they do, someone may be able to build a Node server to control it (or use network resources). Maybe something has Alexa control where there may be a way to integrate that with the Isy using Alexa.

@ryarber I googled a few things to see if I could give you some getting started links for a motor or actuator that's built into a pretty housing and ready to go.  I didn't really find anything turnkey for the shutters you're describing.  There are linear actuators that would do the job, but you'd have to figure out how to hide them in plain site.  Control isn't tuff tho, Qubino make a z-wave controller that will work with most actuators or motors and is very small.

My son is a computer engineer and dabbles with arduino. I thought about getting him to make something. I’ll look at the linear actuators. Thanks.

So, I’m thinking this linear actuator

Actuator

paired with something like you suggested. The qubino or Id think if I could find an Insteon open/close micro module, that could work as well?

The Insteon 2444-222 Open Closed module. Switches a 120VAC output. To control a 120VAC motor in the blinds. The actuator in your link is a 12VDC device.

So, would an IOLinc do it? I have a couple of those I could use.

Edit: I guess that would only operate it in one direction. Not both. So is there an Insteon device that will accomplish this?

The 2444-222 also has a set of built in timers.

You can set how long the output stays on. So actuators that don't have built in stops can be used.
