DirtRoad Posted July 12, 2022 Share Posted July 12, 2022 I have had an ISY994i for many years to contol all my Insteon devices. Just switched from horrible DSL to Starlink and when loging into admin console, PLM is recognized but now I have lost all connections to devices (error: "check connections"). Is this a Starlink issue because of the Starlink router? Any help would be greatly appreciated (not super technical please - ) Link to comment
Dub Posted July 12, 2022 Share Posted July 12, 2022 I don't see how this could be related to the upstream Internet. Since you can get to the Login page and successfully see the console, but the devices are showing as "check connections" that eliminates the IP network side(horrible DSL or Starlink). Insteon connectivity is a different "network". Since you checked the PLM and it is recognized that should not be the problem unless you have a PLM problem at the same time as the change to Starlink(I think this coincidence would be pretty unlikely). Maybe someone with more experience on the ISY/Insteon side can chime in, but when I saw you didn't have a reply yet, I wanted to eliminate the change to Starlink. Will be watching this thread as I'm interested what the issue could be. Link to comment
Solution Techman Posted July 12, 2022 Solution Share Posted July 12, 2022 @DirtRoad Try removing power from the PLM and the ISY, then power up the PLM, wait about 15 seconds then power up the ISY If your able to access the ISY via the admin console on your LAN then the router is not the issue. 2 Link to comment
Brian H Posted July 12, 2022 Share Posted July 12, 2022 (edited) One other possibility is the Starlink Power supply is making power line noise or is a signal sucker. Especially if the Insteon modules are the older power line only model. Is the Starlink supply connected on the same power feed as the ISY994i and PLM? A PLM link count may also show something. The first thing anyone with computer devices learns is to cut power and reboot. Techman's solution took care of the problem. My only excuse for not trying the most elementary step is... I guess I don't have one... To answer Brian H's question, yes the PLM , ISY, and Starlink router are all on the same electrical line. I do like the idea of seperating them from the same source and will think about that for a bit. Thanks again Link to comment
