larryllix Posted October 9, 2022 Share Posted October 9, 2022 (edited) In Canada, Thanksgiving Day is celebrated the second Monday of each October, whereas in the USA, it is celebrated the fourth Thursday of each November. Typically our labour holiday is on the Monday to make a long weekend. Many Canadians close up their cottages for the winter on this weekend, each year. Both celebratory occasions are for similar reasons, but from different eras, in our shared histories. I give thanks to UDI, and all the fantastic people here, for imparting so much enthusiasm, help, and support, to make these products work so well, for so many other users that could have just given up and gone away. Not sure about exact history there, but "Pennsylvania Deutsch" or as the American language deteriorated back then, "Pennsylvania Dutch". IIRC, mostly Mennonite and we have a large presence here remaining. There are many conflicting history stories around Thanksgiving. Some European countries and Caribbean Islands celebrate it also and some, for different reasons. So "pilgrim" may apply for the Mayflower crowd to the USA but not to Canada....right John Wayne?
