How hot should the PLM get?

I am using the 2412S PLM with my ISY 99i Pro Ir and today, I couldn't log into the Admin console so I went to the ISY first and checked the status lights. All was well. Then I decided to unplug the PLM for 10 seconds to reset the system and it was hot!!! I mean almost too hot to hold in my hand!

Should I return it? What could be causing this?

That sounds too warm. Where you doing anything that may have kept it transmitting signals like in a Query or adding many items to the network?

It could have been some power line spike confused the PLMs microcontroller and it locked into a strange state. The power cycle may have cleared it.

If you let it cool down could you then reconnect to the ISY and Admin Console?

I'm reconnected already. All I had to do was to restart the system. It seems there was ongoing activity because I recall seeing the Rx light on the ISY was lit when I first checked it. I suppose there was some loop of activity although I can't imagine what it would be. Is there a log file I can check?
