link v scene

Another one from new owner...

#1) I want to link my controllers to responsers within the ISY as instructed but I can not figure out how. Seems the only way is to make a scene - which I thought was for more complex multi responder set ups. I just want one button to one switch. Must I use a scene?

#2) I have read a lot about setting a static IP address as I will not be able to access the ISY with the old address... Is it recommended to set a static IP address if you plan on using the mobilinc on an iTouch for control, and a wireless laptop for all the adjusting? That is, when will I notice, as an end user, the difficulty with addresses?

Thanks agian,

David

Hello David,

#1) Yes, create a scene and add the two devices.

#2) From the laptop, on your local network, you will not have to set a static IP address.

For remote access you should forward port 443 to the ISY. Some routers allow you to create a reservation for the ISY using the MAC address. Otherwise you should set a static IP address.
