Restore Device problem

Featured Replies

Posted

I just restored my PLM and everything seemed to work fine, except for two devices. Both devices are showing up in the PLM links table. I can turn both devices on and off from the admin console. However they both have red exclamation marks next to the devices and when I try to manually restore one of the devices in linking mode, the event viewer says the device is ready but writing fails and the Admin Console says that it can't communicate with either device.  Any ideas?

BR Light restore log - fail LR Light restore log - fail

Try a factory reset on the devices, then a restore device.

If that doesn't work then you might have noise on the powerline. Are the devices dual band?

Is your PLM dual band?

What controller and firmware are you running?

I'll have to check the Lamplinc but everything else is dual band.

Isy-994i pro and firmware 4.9.0. I have the zwave 300 module so I was more inclined to get the PLM restored instead of upgrading the firmware to the 5.0.16C

@nil13,

The log for your BR light shows "classic" communication problems (low hops remaining) and timeouts (repeated requests from the ISY with no response from the BR Light)  After 3 timeouts the ISY declares a fault.

The Log for your LR light is confusing.  The ISY did not attempt to send anything to the PLM.  I'm honestly not sure what the issue is here.  You might try power cycling the ISY and PLM.

Ok I think it's all a noise problem. I thought about what has changed and the wife working from home and using a space heater stuck out. So I unplugged the space heater and the BR Lights worked straight away and the LR lights started looking less weird but with some 0 hops in there. So now I'm on the hunt for the last noise/sink issue. Thanks.

@nil13

You can use the Insteon noise filter between the powerline and the offending appliance (see attached link). The filters are rated at 10 amps (1200 watts) so it may not work with the space heater

Powerline Noise Filter – Insteon

JV Digital Engineering. Still has their XTB-F15+. 15 Amp filters in limited stock.

It is a X10 filter but maybe OK as Insteon and X10 power line signals are not that far from each other frequency wise.
