guyhamelin
My new eisy with the serial PLM adapter kit. Installed, upgraded, and restored ISY-994 backup. PLM doesn't show up. PLM Status shows: "0 0 0 v0 / Not Connected". I used the Universal Devices USB to Serial Kit for PLM blue cable to go from the adapter to the PLM and plugged the adapter into the USB on the back of the eisy. I have checked to ensure I have Insteon support selected and I've rebooted the eisy several times. Guy. Quote Link to comment
paulbates
My initial eisy experience was similar. Did you try the other USB port, restart? Edited July 7 by paulbates Quote Link to comment
guyhamelin
Hi, Yes did a lot of try/error with no luck. Quote Link to comment
paulbates
Open a support ticket. I'm sure you'll get going soon. https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets/ Quote Link to comment
Techman
@guyhamelin Is the green led on the PLM lit? How old is the PLM? Quote Link to comment
guyhamelin
Yes, light is on and the PLM was working on my 994. Everything work good but no communication. Quote Link to comment
Techman
It's possible that the serial to USB cable is defective Quote Link to comment
guyhamelin
It's possible but it's a new one from Aartech.ca, Quote Link to comment
Brian H
You may want to check the pins in the PLM's serial jack. On the off chance one of them is not making connection. As pointed out. A ticket with UDI should get you an answer. Did you power up the PLM first so it was fully booted up when the eisy powered up? Edited July 7 by Brian H Add a question Quote Link to comment
Techman
Under the Configuration tab on the eisy, do you have the box for Insteon support checked? What is your eisy firmware and UI? Have you tried removing power from the PLM and removing and resetting the USB cable at the PLM? 1 Quote Link to comment

The pins look ok, and I tried to power up the PLM first and no luck, Quote Link to comment

Yes the box is check, firmware 5.8.4 UI 5.8.4 And I have resettled the PLM : power off, power on with the pin pushed , Quote Link to comment
Techman
At this point you could either try another converter cable or a new USB PLM. I doubt that the issue is with the eisy. Quote Link to comment
Solution guyhamelin Posted July 8 Author Solution Share Posted July 8 Thank you everybody for your help, Michel Kohanim has resolve the communication problem. The brand new cable was not route well inside the RJ45 connector. Wire Orange is suppose to be inside pin 1 and it was in pin 2. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Brian H
Pin #1 is the serial signal from the PLM to the attached device. Pin #2 is NC. That will definitely cause a no PLM found error. Thank you for keeping us in the loop. Quote Link to comment
BAbdallah
so the DIY cable I can make from an Amazon one is just orange Pin 1, pink pin 7, yellow pin 8 ? Quote Link to comment
Brian H
Can't comment on the color wires. Yes just 3 wires. If yours is working then you got it correct. Edited August 22 by Brian H Quote Link to comment
