A divice that opens and closes my blinds For the blinds, is there a model that HA can run that doesn't require a zigbee or zwave antenna. Just run simular to how my ecobee node server would work on the isy? Quote
Diesel Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Aqara FP2 is WiFi, no zigbee or zwave radios/hub required. Here's a review and guide on how to add to Home Assistant. For blinds, one option is to look into the latest matter devices like the Eve MotionBlinds. Also just FYI because you mentioned node servers - any devices you add to ISY via node servers can be added to, and controlled by HomeAssistant through the ISY integration. In fact they're added by default unless you explicitly exclude them. Quote

The big difference between your Ecobee and shades is that your Ecobee is hardwired and thus can (and does) use WiFi. Battery powered shades don't use WiFi, thus some other communication method has to be used like Zwave. Another option would be to use a Bond Bridge, which mimics the RF remote that comes with the shades. This is what I will be using. So, your goal of not adding an antenna, or some other device like a Bond, is probably not going to pan out. Unless you go with hardwired shades, then you could use WiFi. Smartwings has all these options and has become pretty popular for DIY. Quote

It can connect to any devices on your network as long you add the integration modules into HASS for those devices. Quote

Integration can be local, if protocol is available or reversed engineered and device allows it. Integration can also be via cloud (and will usually say "requires cloud"). Former is always a preferred choice. FYI, HA can talk to ecobee thermostats locally via HomeKit integration. Similarly, with IoX, it's plug in dependent - some talk to the cloud and some do not. Not sure if this answers your question. EDIT: Depending on the blinds, HA would need a "controller". For example if you're using z-wave blinds, you can use USB z-wave stick and z-wave integration. Of, like me, you can use eisy z-wave controller, and expose those blinds via HA ISY integration and control them that way. Edited July 12 by firstone Quote
