Trouble with PLM replacement

Featured Replies

Posted

The other day I attempted to replace a buggy PLM with a new device. Per the WIKI manual, I unplugged the 994, then connected the new PLM, then repowered the 994, then selected "restore PLM" in the admin console. The "system busy" box then displayed but progress stopped at ~25% (4 tries). l then tried "restore devices" but got nowhere. I ended up reinstalling a backup ISY file to restore the system back to where it was (I had deleted a number of unused nodes in an attempt to streamline the PLM search process).

Any suggestions/comments on what the problem is?

As you can tell, I'm a rookie at this.

Do you have battery devices like motion or door sensors? Those have to be individually put in set mode for their turn. There's a little battery icon with a +/-on the top of the admin console you can click. It will avoid all battery devices so powerline devices finish. Then you unclick it and do each battery device one at a time

Good question. I noted this while reading the WIKI info. I have several battery operated devices (i.e., water sensors in the crawl space). I planned to address these after I installed the new PLM. I will look at the admin console for battery icon. Do you believe that this was the cause of the failure to update?

It's possible. I believe the admin console steps through the list of devices and won't avoid sensors unless that battery option is set.

It's easy to try and see if it will complete.
