When I add the matter enabled Leviton decora switches I get a error “could not get matter QR code rendenvousCode”

any ideas?

From what I've read, the initial rollout of IoX v5.9.1 either supports a very limited number of matter devices, or the ability to add a matter device is not yet available.  All my attempts to add a matter device have resulted in failure with the same message you got.

Same here. It looks like there is something missing when it comes to actually adding a device. At least we're getting a feel for how it will be done.

So interesting part.  I sent a screenshot over to support and they scanned the barcode with no issues.  They are going to add some debug to see what is going on in the test release.

I look forward to hearing the results.  I do not recall a post from anyone claiming success adding any matter device.

I am confident that the matter QR code I attempted to pair with EISY is valid, because I successfully paired it and other similar matter devices with Home Assistant.

Below is the AC matter log from my last attempt to add a matter device.  The "Failed to read" errors caught my attention, but I can't say if those are relevant to this issue.

I am still trying to understand the whole matter thing.  My perception so far is that once a matter code is used to pair with one hub, the same code cannot be used to pair with another.  Instead, the original hub must share the device with the second hub, generating a new code.  I don't know if that is what you tried but I suspect it would not matter...you would probably get the same results.

oberkc,

That is my understanding as well.  Home Assistant has the capability to share paired devices, but I'm not seeing any corresponding function in AC or UD Mobile to accept a shared matter device.

I had an unused matter device I tested EISY with.  My testing strategy was to first confirm the matter device was good by pairing it with a known good controller/hub (i.e., Home Assistant).  Before attempting to pair with EISY, I deleted it from HA followed by a factory reset on the device, which automatically put it into pairing mode.

I have android version of UD Mobile.  There was a recent update that added the capability to add matter devices, but only via QR code (not able to type in a numeric code).  I do not use Home Assistant, but Google Home has the ability to share a paired device via generating a QR code (Alexa does not, as far as I can tell).  I have not seen the ability to add matter devices on iOS version of UD Mobile.  Unfortunately, trying to add a matter device using UD Mobile has been a failure for me so far.

Quite likely. In the documentation of the GE Cync bulb I tried, it said that the bulb can be set up either with their app or with Matter, but not both. Probably the same thing applies to being linked to two Matter hubs.

It might, but I don't suspect this to be the case.  I understand that the major point of matter is being a universal standard, shareable regardless of manufacturers.  To that point, I have successfully added matter devices (both thread and wifi) to Alexa, then share them with google.  I have also added matter devices to google and shared them with Alexa.  In no case have I been able to add any directly to UDMobile, or share via google/Alexa to UDMobile.

As far as the Cync bulb app, I wonder if it even uses the matter standard.  My guess it NO and I suspect that may be the reason that the bulb cannot be paired with both app and matter hub.

It wasn't obvious to me that sharing a device would use a QR code (I never needed to share a device before).  So, I tried sharing a device from Home Assistant to EISY.  HA generated a QR code which I scanned with UD Mobile.  But it failed the same as before.

It's a wifi bulb, and supports either their own app, or Matter. I actually went to the hardware store just to find an inexpensive Matter compatible bulb that I could experiment and learn with. I did manage to link it to a Google home mini speaker, and it works. I tried Matter linking inUD mobile with:

1- The bulb itself

2- A Philips Hue hub

3- The Google home mini, as a shared device

In each case I get the same 500 error code.

In the situations where the device or app only gives me a numeric pairing code, I used a website to convert it as text to a QR code, and tried scanning it off my computer screen. The UD app would show the correct pairing number when scanning it, but still give the 500 error.

In the case of the Hue hub, the pairing code is only valid for 15 minutes. then you need to get a new one (the usual Philips security paranoia!)

As for multiple sharing, it might depend on the capabilities of the individual device. The bulb might not have enough smarts to share to several hubs, but hubs (or some hubs) might be capable. All part of the learning process.

A update was posted in TestFlight for iPhone by UD team for the ticket I logged with them..  I just saw version 1.2.2 show up.  Not sure if there is a fix or just extra logging or a fix but give it a shot.  Going to try it now

I think some debug was added as I get a different error code.  Will submit it back and hopefully that will help them identify the issue.
