Hi - I am looking to upgrade from my DSC 832 to the DSC Neo, and was wondering if anyone has the EYEZ-ON board setup in Universal mode with this plug-in?

I trigger routines for arm/disarm mostly.  Not sure I will get that status without full bus integration.

I think you need an EyezOn UNO4 expander as well. Never tested the plugin with this setup, though.

yes- I have been looking into it.  Looks like I am going to test :).

Don't have a choice - need to keep the integration with my home setup.. and the older 433 MHz stuff is hard to find for the DSC 1832... Wish me luck. I will report back.

 

Run the plugin with “Debug” logging level so we can see what it’s doing differently.

The DSC neo is a dead end.  Don't buy it.  No integration possible in the US.  They encrypted the data bus and no one has the encryption but them and they provide zero remote monitoring/control of any sort in the US.  Astonishing how they have moved backward 30 years with this.

Thanks @apostolakisl, I have been doing further research and it’s really not looking good. 

The work-around that eyez-on has is very limited it seems.  I have been emailing them also.  A >$200 risk and maybe it will do arm and disarm and zone status with more parallel modules.  But no details like exit delay/partition status.

It’s unfortunate, as the DSC Neo looks to be a decent system and wireless “PowerG” as well- but without the management and integration - it’s backwards as you say.

Astonishing to me.  Perhaps authorized installers are getting something to integrate with their own apps, I don't know.  But this is infuriating.  Everyone else is increasing interoperability and they just shut the whole thing down with their product.   I had been using the eyezon unit for years with great success at my office with an 1832 and my church wanted to install an alarm on a new building, so, without thinking, I got a new DSC system since the older 1832 units are discontinued.  Big mistake.  Probably going to have to pull it all out.  And that means all the zone expanders and keypads.  The databus on the new is encrypted so nothing is cross compatible with the old system.

Has anyone tried the Eyez-on DSC clone board?

I think it’s online only programming from what I found out- not for me ..

I will probably end up going to ebay for a used 1832.  Trouble is you have to make sure that it has the factory programming password or at least one that they know and tell you.

..and the other issue is the keypads and other accessories.

 Old tech that works is more expensive than the new stuff.

There is a way to factory reset the 1832 boards to default values (including passwords) by jumpering two pins in the controller chip.

This is the part that concerns me:

• If the panel was modified by an installation company, it may retain their custom codes even after a factory reset.

I only did it once. It was the DSC1832 I had when I wrote the original PG1 version of the plugin. It had been installed by an alarm monitoring company (Loud). The keypads and everything was branded. The factory reset via pin jumpering technique took it back to default factory settings.
