I deleted an I/O link device so I could re-add it as a new device thinking this would be easier than deleting all the old links to programs manually. Unfortunately, Eisy now can’t seem to add the device back. I’m getting the cannot determine Insteon engine message.  It can see the device, but it doesn’t seem to know what kind of device it is. Even though I am selecting I/O link 2450.  I’ve also try to add it where I don’t select the type of device and again it will find the device but not be able to determine the type of device. Any help would be appreciated. The device was working correctly. I just needed to use it in a different capacity going forward.

1. Since it's being reused, factory reset it: Unplug it from the wall, hold the set switch while plugging it back and and keep holding the set switch till it beeps. Try adding it again
    
2. Io lincs use single band communications, not rf. Plug it in the same outlet as the PLM, try re-adding it and move it back to the install location and test its operation

I plugged it into an outlet in a different room and it was able to load. For some reason, the IO switches are struggling to work in the electronics closet where they have always been. I had another one that I thought was dead, and I moved it to a different outlet and now it works fine.  I also had an ez flora that wasn’t functioning. I plugged it into an extension cord, running the cord out of the room to another room and now it works fine. Don’t have the luxury of rerouting all of the sprinkler wires to a different room so I’m wondering what is causing all of this.

Electronics are notoriously noisy on the powerline, and the iolinc has no rf, powerline only. ezfloras are powerline only  also, I had 2 of them

If you have a spare lamp or on.off module, try plugging the iolinc back in the closet and the module directly into the back of the iolinc. Lamp/io modules act as rf repeaters. It might also help the ezflora, some testing needed.

If you don't have a spare, temporarily borrow one to test. If it works, you can order one for this purpose

Another possibility is, if possible, plug non-Insteon electronics in the closet into a single power strip, and plug that power strip into an Insteon filter module. (Don't plug anything Insteon into the power strip). This will isolate the line noise from your powerline.

If everything won't fit in one power strip, chances are it's only one or two of the electronics in the closet, and rotating through plugging things in and testing will prove it out 

EDIT: Chances are, whatever the most recent non Insteon addition to the closet is the culprit
