October 15Oct 15 There is a very comprehensive post by danu1964 on this forum describing the repair of a 2413PLM that is very helpful.I have a 2413S v.1.0 PLM which is a little different from the later PLM versions. At position C7, there are two 10uF 63V capacitors connected in series and there appears to be no position C13.Has anyone here recapped one of these PLMs? Should I recap it the way it is with new parts?
October 15Oct 15 Actually they may look like their in series but they are not. There should be a jumper wire to the trace side of the PCB, a trace cut on the back side and a small coil between the two capacitors. It is creating the pi filter on the power supply. Found on the later PCB layout.I have never tried it but if you use care it could be possible to do it.10uF is woefully to small and only was in the V1.0. 2413SV1.0.pdf Edited October 15Oct 15 by Brian H Add my handheald drawing.
October 15Oct 15 Two caps in series would be very unusual. The common connection between them must be going somewhere you can't see. If in doubt, replace woth the same part (capacitance and voltage rating). There is generally no harm in exceeding the capacitance and/or voltage rating of an electrolytic cap in a power filtering circuit if it physically fits.
October 15Oct 15 I actually had a V1.0 with 10uF 25V caps.V2.1 changed C7 and C13 to 100uf 35V and V2.3 to 100uF 50V too large to fit the PCB solder holes. They mounted parallel to the PCB and held in with component glue
October 21Oct 21 Author I have a dead Access Point 2443 v2. Instead of recapping the v1.0 PLM, can I recap the 2443 board and then install the daughter card from the PLM on the 2443 board? If one compares a v2 PLM to the v2 Access Point, the main board look identical.
October 21Oct 21 No the firmware on the 2443 v2 main board will still act like a 2443 v2 Access Point with a serial daughter board on it. As it does not have the PLM firmware in it. Edited October 21Oct 21 by Brian H Correct a typo and add something
