Yesterday at 02:57 AM1 day I was using an X10 siren module which supports a high/low chime, but it mysteriously stopped working. Could be related to some electrical work on my house.I've looked for an Insteon chime, but can't find one.Someone suggested an on/off plug:InsteonOn/Off PlugControls plug-in lamps, space heaters, fans and other small appliances up to 15 Amps or 1800 Watts. Works with Amazon Alexa for voice control when paired with an Insteon Hub 2.but I don't see a way to connect to a chime.Important features for me:Trigger a brief chime noise from eISY.Preferably have two different pitched tones available.Any recommendations?
Yesterday at 09:08 AM1 day I had one of those X10 modules as an alert for an automated garage door before closing it.The Insteon on/off plug, like most Insteon device can be sent a message that will create a very brief, kind of quiet "cheep". It's meant more for diagnostic use to know that the switch is being linked or has a problem. It also can be used in debugging iox programs.Insteon makes this siren module. It has 2 responses: It can make a door bell-ish ding dong like walking in a store, or a screamy siren sound that has scared my family members, pets and probably the plants. It's not clear from the post about the continued role of X10. I don't think the current release of Insteon products respond to X10 any longer.
Yesterday at 10:58 AM1 day I have one of the early released Insteon Siren modules and I believe X10 was not supported.

23 hours ago23 hr There is an older lengthy post. This particular comment covers it. If you are hemorrhaging time, you could read the whole thing, but picking through it won't hurt.My recollection is that there are features in the device's panel when you add it to iox.

It is informative.Sounds like it won't quite do what I want: It doesn't have two different chime tones that I could separately trigger. There are warnings that make it sound like it is too loud for my purposes.I suppose I could buy one to test it out...
22 hours ago22 hr Truth be told I had one I bought a couple of years ago to announce for leak sensors and sump pump depth alarm in my basement . One of the leak sensors was in a well area and the floor gets damp there... so it went off as it should but not really an emergency. I was able to move it a foot or so to still work but not false positive. But that event was not a hit with my wife as it was not a real problem and home automation took a shot on goal when its otherwise really good.I got rid of it. I had the same problem with yolink version. Too screamy. Still looking. I also don't want to keep adding things like zwave, zigbee, wifi etc to solve one problem and throw other topologies at the problem... and I thought about that old X10 chime that gave a nice beep ..... beep ... beep several times. Disappointed that it stopped working. Even bought a second one as a test in case the first one had gone bad. No joy. It had two tones, I could make it go Ding or DingDong. I triggered it from my ISY to announce arm/disarm of an ISY program.
