What does 'Restore Device' do...?

I've got a couple hidden links on my RemoteLinc that don't appear in my ISY. The original scene was deleted, and the responder switch(s) factory reset - so I'm not too surprised at the current state.

Will the 'Restore Device' rewrite the RemoteLinc keeping only the lincs known to the ISY?

Restore device first clears the device then rewrites the links back to it. Having links outside of the ISY is not standard practice. Just wondering why do you have links outside of the ISY?

If the links were in the RL when you added it to the ISY and you selected Keep Existing Links then Restore Device will not remove them.

I believe my ISY became somewhat unresponsive... I tried the Restore Device a number of times, got the prompt to put the RemoteLinc in the correct mode by pressing the Dim & Bright until the LED blinks - but never got a progress bar or feedback. I eventually pulled the power on it. When it came back up the hidden lincs now appeared in the proper scenes...

 

I still performed a restore on it, and this time it appeared to write out to the device...

I've got two sets of cross-linked light switches in my rec-room. (2 ceiling pot lights controlled by 2 switches - one at each end of the room, and another 4 pot lights controlled by another set of switches.) The RemoteLinc is now a controller for each group - button D handles the 2, while E does the group of 4.

 

I tried to make a single keypad button as a controller to both groups (scenes), but it only allowed the first as a controller, the second it suggested as a responder.

 

Q: Can a single keypad button be used to control both scenes

and

Q: Can I get the LED on the keypad button to illuminate if either scene (set of lights) is on?

 

I figure I'll have to write a program (or multiple) to handle this, just don't want to over look any simple solutions. Thanks.

The unresponsive I have seen too, usually it seems to be just the java admin interface is gotten confused. Most likely if you close the admin and relaunch it, then the pop-up progress bar will show up again. I have had this happen to me several times, and I just know if the bar does not show up to just automatically relaunch the admin. I have been trying to figure out what the common thing is that causes it so I can submit it to Michel as a bug but so far I am still unsure.

You can't have two separate scenes with one same button as a controller. I think what you will have to do is create one larger scene that has all the same lights in it and have it controlled by that one button.

I did cycle my PC at that time as well, so the whole interface issue could be with the Java admin interface.

 

The ideas in the 'KeypadLinc LED Follow Program' should be just what I need.

Devices CAN be part of multiple scenes, but controller only of one scene. This means that you COULD make a new scene that includes all devices that are part of your other two, with the addition of your keypad button as contoller to "control both scenes". You cannot use an existing scene controller (buttons D or E, in your case) to control additional scenes.

 

Alternatively, with the ISY, you could create a program to turn on the existing two scenes in response to a keypad button.

Yes, if you include the keypad button as responder in both scenes that were created to link your wall switches.
