I have a 2486D that when I push the off button it goes to half brighness and does not turn off. The ISY-99i shows it off with 100% brightness. I have tried resetting it back to the factory default and it still does it.

 

This happened once before after I restored power and then magically it fixed itself. Now I had another power outage and it back doing it again.

 

How can I fix this ? I am also running v 2.8.4 and the Keypad is V.36

Unless you have an ISY Program that is reacting to the OFF message coming from the KeypadLinc Dimmer and turning the KPL back ON at some dim level, turning the KPL OFF with the OFF button is all hardware/firmware in the KPL itself. So long as there is no ISY Program involved you likely have a defective KPL

 

What type of load and wattage is connected to the KPL, incandescent bulb, CFL, LED, etc. Some devices are not meant to be handled by an Insteon Dimmer.

Are you sure you didn't inadvertently wire a second dimmer to the same load?

Nope just one switch connected to it. The load is an overhead light with 3 60 watt normal incandescent bulbs.

 

I will go on the premise that it is defective. It is just strange that it did the same thing earlier then corrected itself and now with the power outage it is back doing it again.

 

I will return it as it is under warranty.

So when it is in this half-on state, pulling the airgap out on the keypadlinc turns off the light completely? And there's no InLineLinc anywhere attached to the load?

That is correct. The airgap turns the light off completely. Then I wait 10 seconds and push it back in and the switch defaults to off and the light is half dim. If I then push it for 3 seconds and let go then the light goes on - full bright. When I then push the off button it is back to half bright.

 

The ISY-99i shows the on and off correctly but always shows the brightness at 100%.
