gadgetguru69 Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 i am guessing this is a simple one but when i control device via the ISy everything reports back fine but if i go manually toggle a switch then i dont get status. I am guessing that i need some sort of program to run query or am i missing something else? Thanks
oberkc Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 I thought mine reported state, but I just went out and checked, and noticed that none of my devices' status show up. I closed the ISY, then opened again, and status is now magically there. Manual control of devices shows up accurately in the status box. Try closing the admin panel and reopen. See what happens. Besides the possibility of device or communication failure, my first thought on your situation is wondering how you added the device to the ISY. Did you do it automatically (start linking) or manually (type insteon address). I am under the impressions that manual addition of devices may yield less than optimum results in some cases.
apostolakisl Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Devices should report and show the current state on ISY's main console regardless of how they got that way. You should not have to close your window and reopen it to have the state be shown accurately either. I can sit at my console and watch as my wife and kids move around the house turning lights on and off. I had a KPL that was not reporting state properly and found that a factory reset of the kpl follwed by a "restore device" fixed the issue. If nothing on your system is reporting state, I would think that perhaps you are having a plm issue. If the ISY is not getting the word when a device has its state changed, then programs triggered by those status' won't work either. Check to see if programs are functioning that are initiated that way. If reopening the Java console gets the state to show correctly, then you must be having a Java communication problem with ISY knowing what is going on, but it just isn't showing up on your screen. Try rebooting your computer or reinstalling Java.
donblake Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I've been running an ISY 99i Pro for some time now but have only been controlling X-10 devices. I finally broke down and purchased some Insteon devices (SwitchLinc Dimmer and SwitchLinc Relays). I had some initial trouble adding a couple of devices. The problem, I believe, was due to the devices being on a different phase than the PLM. When I was finally successful in adding them, they weren't reporting status. What I eventually found was that the PLM had multiple links to the devices. After I cleaned up the PLM links and re-linked the devices, they worked fine. Don
