jkraus
when assigning a static IP address should it be within the range of my DHCP server (i.e. between 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.199 in my case) or outside the range. I currenly have it inside the range i.e. ....167 and works fine, but will it then revert at some time dynamically since this is in the range of my DHCP server? Goose66
Static IP addresses assigned to devices should be outside of your DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) range. Alternatively, you can permanently reserve an address in the range to your ISY via the MAC address. You still configure the ISY for DHCP, but tell your router to always give the ISY a particular IP address (thus accomplishing the same thing).
