Walrus Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 When I log in to the regular page of the ISY, my two switchlinc relays show their status correctly (on/off). However, when in the admin console, the status window is blank 50% of the time. My computer is running Windows 7 64-bit, with NOD32 antivirus. I have added both the internal ISY static IP (192.168.1.107) to the http exclusions in NOD32, and my static external IP. Should I turn off HTTP filtering completely? When in the console, both switchlincs show up as V.00. They were purchased in December, so they should be the newest versions. When I added them to the ISY, I did it the manual way, by entering their addresses, and I selected 2476S Swithlinc Relay from the drop down, instead of auto detecting. If V.00 isn't correct, perhaps I should delete the devices and relink them? If I delete them and relink them, does that delete any scenes and programs they are a part of?

However, when in the admin console, the status window is blank 50% of the time. I am not sure that I understand the difference between "regular page" and "admin console". When in the console, both switchlincs show up as V.00 This definitely concerns me. If V.00 isn't correct, perhaps I should delete the devices and relink them? In devices that are easy to access, I have never seen the value in manual linking. I would do this by "start linking" and autodetect. If I delete them and relink them, does that delete any scenes and programs they are a part of? It will not delete scenes and programs, but it will delete this device within the scenes and programs. You will have to re-add it. The other factor that could come into play is the version of ISY software you are running. I would upgrade to the latest available version if you have not already done so. Sometimes, support for the latest generation of devices is included in these upgrades.
Walrus Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 I am not sure that I understand the difference between "regular page" and "admin console". Regular page: accessed by entering just ISY IP Admin console: accessed by entering IP/admin The other factor that could come into play is the version of ISY software you are running. I would upgrade to the latest available version if you have not already done so. Sometimes, support for the latest generation of devices is included in these upgrades. Running latest firmware 2.8.10 My entire system right now is just the ISY, PLM, and two switchlinc relays. Starting small, as a fun project/Christmas present. If I remove the two devices, I will have no devices, and might as well just start over. I only have 5 small programs written to control my front outside lights.
oberkc Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Regular page: accessed by entering just ISY IP Admin console: accessed by entering IP/admin That seems very strange to me that these would show different status. I would have assumed that the information displayed would be from the same source. Running latest firmware 2.8.10 Good. I think, however, I would still remove the offending devices from the ISY, perform a factory reset on the devices, then add them back to the ISY using the automatic method. The version 00 still has me concerned. The automatic detection should give you an accurate version number. Do you not have any access points? Is your PLM a dual-band version? Are any of your other devices dual band? I am wondering if the lack of version number is indicative of failed communication. If I remove the two devices, I will have no devices, and might as well just start over. I only have 5 small programs written to control my front outside lights. Yes, this sounds like a viable option, but I think you will find adding the devices back into programs and scenes still easier. Besides the discrepancy in status, is your system (programs, scenes) working as expected?
Walrus Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 The version 00 still has me concerned. The automatic detection should give you an accurate version number. I didn't auto detect. I clicked 'add insteon device' and manually entered the device address, and also picked the device type from the dropdown menu. Do you not have any access points? Is your PLM a dual-band version? Are any of your other devices dual band? I am wondering if the lack of version number is indicative of failed communication. Dual band PLM. No access point. The PLM, and two switchlincs are on the same electrical leg. Besides the discrepancy in status, is your system (programs, scenes) working as expected? Works 100% every time. Even when I am in the admin console, and the status of both devices shows nothing (instead of showing on or off), if I click the button at the bottom to send an on or off, the device responds every time, but still no status. Query doesn't make a status appear either. If I close out of the ISY, and log back in 5 mins later, sometimes the status shows, sometimes it doesn't.

Walrus Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 Yes, turn off HTTP filtering. NOD32 Firewall Resolution Rand Will do. I have logged in about 20 times here from work, and the status shows perfectly every time. Maybe that is it. The only time I have had the status not show, is with my home laptop, both locally and remote.
Walrus Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 Changing NOD32 to not filter HTTP at all seems to have fixed the status problem. I removed one device at a time, factory reset, and re-added it through 'start linking', fixed up the scene and programs, and the switchlincs now show up as v.3A, and I now have an LED Brightness button to control the leds on the side of the switches. All problems solved. Thanks.
Sub-Routine Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Good thing you mentioned the NOD32! You can add by New Device, if that is your preference. Use Auto Discover for most devices. Then the ISY will query the device for type and version. Start Linking adds the advantage of confirming communications before initializing the device.
