ISY-99i recognize KeypadLinc as Unsupported Device:2.32

I just installed a KeypadLinc 2486S v5.4 (6 buttons) and was able to manually link it to 3 applianceLincs and 2 Insteon in-wall on/off switches (2876SB). I could even link it as a responder so that its LED's follow the statuses of the in-wall switches. Everything works perfectly as expected. However, after hooking up the ISY controller I attempted to link all devices. Everything linked and worked fine with the ISY except for the KeypadLinc. ISY recognized it as an "Unsupported Device:2.32" and basically listed it as a responder but not as a controller.

I couldn't find much information related to this issue. Does anyone have any idea? I hoping it's something simple that I overlooked.

I got it to work thanks to LeeG. Interestingly, doing it through the new INSTEON device popup and selecting (2486S/WH6) KeypadLinc Relay works but not through the "Start Links" menu option which would have forced the ISY to auto detect. Guess I should have played with it some more before posting the question. The quickstart guides alone didn't cut it. Lesson learned...I will make time to read the ISY owner's manual.

LeeG - the firmware is 2.7.15

oberkc - I followed the ISY quick start guide and chose "start links" (if I remember correctly) and let it automatically discover all devices.

BrianH - I started out installing the INSTEON devices first and linked them as I go along. Can't wait to see them work, I suppose. I thoroughly enjoyed doing the work so I didn't consider it time wasted but I see your point.

Thanks all for you input.

A couple of thoughts....

ISY software updates often add newer insteon devices. Your version (2.7.15) is a relatively old one that may not have included support for the version of the keypad you have. I recommend updating your ISY software to the latest version.

My perception is that ISY suggests avoiding the manual linking, instead using ISY to perform this function. Hopefully, the ISY correctly discovered all the existing links when you added the devices. It may be worth performing a device link compare, under the diagnostics options. This tool compares the link table of the device to that of the ISY, and identifies any differences.

Yes, reading the ISY owner's manual is worthwhile. The wiki is also worth checking out.
