NewTech
This is really strange... I have button "C" on my hallway KPL set as my "Bedtime/House Sleep" button. This button is automatically turned on at sunset every evening and is set to stay on until we manually turn it off (which puts the house to sleep) but here lately when we go to bed button "C" will already be off. I decided to look in the event log through Excel to see if I could trace why/when the "C" button is being turned off but nowhere in the report for button "C" does it indicate where it might have been turned off. The event log also does not indicate when we manually turn the button back on. It's the weirdest thing. I suspected some communication issues but none of other buttons in this same KPL behave this way. Nothing has been changed in our Insteon system and no new electronic devices have been added to the same circuit the KPL is on. Can anyone out there explain this rather strange activity? It's not really a big deal because when we press button "C" to turn it on (so we can turn it off for bedtime) everything works fine when we press it again to put the house to sleep! oberkc
While this does not answer your question.... have you considered configuring this button to non-toggle off mode? If the only purpose for this button is to turn everything off, this makes more sense to me. Back to your question: I decided to look in the event log through Excel to see if I could trace why/when the "C" button is being turned off but nowhere in the report for button "C" does it indicate where it might have been turned off. Perhaps the problem is not that the button is somehow being turned off, but that it is never turned on. How sure are you that it was ever, or consistently, turned on? While I am sure your program sends a command to turn it on, is it possible that your device simply does not consistently respond (for whatever reason)? Have you ever confirmed, visually, that it was on, only to find it off later the same evening? I am nothing near being an expert on these event logs, but can you see anything in the log to suggest that the device failed to respond to the programmed "on" command. I would assume that such a log entry would be within seconds of the programmed command.

I actually have this same button set to turn on my "At Home" scene for dark days so a toggle only mode is not feasible. We can see the hallway KPL from our great room and we also walk by it several times an evening and button "C" is on. It seems to go off (but not every time) around 11:00 when I have our outside lights set to go from 50% to 95%. However, the outside lights are not associated with either of the KPL button in the hallway. Another note: I have another KPL in our other hallway (our bedrooms are at opposite ends of our house) where button "C" is also programmed exactly like button "C" in the master bedroom hallway. The other button "C" stays on and is always on when I notice the KPL in the MBRM hallway is off. Yeah, I know, just adding to the strangeness of this issue! I suspected a faulty LED in the questionable KPL but the LED always turns back on when we press it. And, that doesn't explain why the event log doesn't indicate when button "C" was turned back on. NOTE: When we go to bed and press button "C" OFF it DOES indicate in the event log that we pressed the button to put the house to sleep.
