using a 2475S2 (In-LineLinc with sense) with fire/smoke alar

Has anybody had any experience connecting smoke alarms to an in-linelinc?

My thoughts are to use the "trigger" wire (that runs common to all the smokes in my home) and attach this to the sense.

One (or two for redundancy) in-linelinc's should then be able to trigger the ISY to run scenes (flash all exteriors for example - makes spotting the house for the FD easier).

Wondering if anyone has tried this

Thanks

The InLineLinc w/sense is expecting a 120V swing. I doubt the smoke detectors are controlling 120v AC.

Thats why I was asking. I havent put a meter on the line, although interconnecting all the detectors (and the AC line that runs between them all) has a 4th wire for common trigger. Being that the 4th wire is in with 120VAC I would assume that this too is 120, but who knows.

My thought was to attach the sense to that line if the things were to trigger, but Im not familiar with the characteristics of it (meaning does it go high and stay there, momentarily go high (or low)....)

Appreciate the feedback though

Does sound like it could be 120V on the trigger wire. Certainly worth checking with a meter. Most detectors that connect to a security panel will be switching 12V DC but these could be switching 120V AC.

Do you have a manufacturer and model number? Often information can be found with google search.

Here in Canada, all my smoke and CO sensors (brand is Kiddle) run through the same 14-3 circuit and interconnect (communicate) with each other. They use the 120VAC as power and as a bus to send signals.

I use an SM120X and CO120X to tie into these. These are Kiddle isolated relays units that tie into the 14-3 and provide isolated 12VDC output that I tie into EZIO insteon inputs.

Bingo! Exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks a bunch io_guy... this REALLY helps me out.
