I have been researching the ISY product and have a few questions:

1. If I wanted to use a tablet for control, what are my options? I see the Conductor for android, is this the best or only option?

2. Has anyone setup a "single remote" to control the HA as well as media? I use Mythtv and would like to possibly do this with the "single remote".

3. Do all Insteon products work with ISY? Is there a compatibility list?

Not sure if there's other apps, but I use Conductor and am very happy with it. Especially like the ability to tie widgets to devices/programs/scenes - makes it easy to have a homescreen button to bump up my heat when I leave for home.

Has anyone setup a "single remote" to control the HA as well as media? I use Mythtv and would like to possibly do this with the "single remote".

I have a universal remote that I use for TV/Audio/Myth, and I just setup the DVD option to control the ISY. Took a bit of trial and error to find a manufacturer code that both worked with ISY and didn't affect other devices (i.e. turn off the TV randomly). I only use it to control a couple things (light and fan in the TV room), but it works great. I have a few buttons mapped to the light so I can do Off/25%/50%/On

Do all Insteon products work with ISY? Is there a compatibility list?

I haven't run into any that don't. I think sometimes when totally new devices come out there can be a bit of a lag before the ISY firmware is updated for them, but it's usually pretty quick.

Regarding number 2.

I have a global cache Itach unit. It allows ISY to send IR. ISY has IR receving built in (if you buy that model).

Currently I use a Harmony 890 and have it intigrated with the ISY. My intention is to use a tablet and have Itach execute all of my remote commands. There is a good ipad app for that. I have android and there is an app for it too, but I haven't had time to figure it out. Anyway, it all can be integrated with ISY because it can receive IR and can send IR using the network module/itach.

Also, with Itach, you can have lots of them and ISY can send commands to each one individually. The itach work on wifi so you can put them all over the house.

Here is one more option to 2. I set up an MX-950 remote the uses RF to control (anywhere in or around the house). I can use to control selected scenes and devices and did not run into any conflicts between the lighting codes and those used for my home theatre system.

Yes and it supplied power to the ISY99i so the external one for the 2413S is not used.

Depending on the age it may also be the small link database unit. That had a 417 link size.

Sorry, thought you wanted to purchase them. The UDI web site has information on the various modules. Also the UDI Wiki has a section on the optional modules.

Sorry to bother but I still can't finding pricing for the modules.

Concerning linking of Insteon devices...when linking them to the ISY-99i...is that all the linking that needs to be done or is it a combination of linking devices to devices and to the ISY-99i?

They are mostly around $40 or $50.

ISY takes care of all the linking. It stores all the info in its database, which you can backup. You can restore devices and replace devices and with a single click it re-writes all the links.

In addition to good information apostolakisl already provided, when a device is added to the ISY all links necessary for the ISY to be aware of device state changes are automatically established.

Device to Device control is established separately by defining ISY Scenes, adding the respective devices to the Scenes as either Controllers (which are assumed to also be Responders) or Responders. Once defined the ISY writes all the necessary link records (cross-linking). Set button links should not be done. There are a few exceptions but they are spelled out when needed.
