MuchHat Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Hello I just upgraded everything from x10 to Insteon and I cannot get the RemoteLinc 2 registered with Isy99. I followed the "Add a RemoteLinc" menu however the list in the drop down does not have the RemoteLinc 2 (2444) and only RemoteLinc (2440). I tried selecting the RemoteLinc in there but the registration is not happening. It comes back with something along the lines : error, cannot unregister links. Question : is RemoteLinc 2 (2444) supported by Isy99 and just not yet in the drop down list? Any known workarounds? I can post the logs if that helps. I already tried other workaround suggested here for RemoteLinc like getting the access point closer etc. The RemoteLinc 2 does bind OK directly with the ApplianceLinc but I need it bound to Isy99. Thank you, MuchHat
Brian H Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 What firmware is in your unit? The RemoteLinc2 was added in one of the 3.1.? beta releases. 3.1.13 is the latest.
LeeG Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 RemoteLinc2 support was added at 3.1.10. As Brian indicated if you move to a v3 beta go to 3.1.13 or whatever is the latest at that time. To add a RemoteLinc2 Select Link Management | New INSTON Device Enter RL2 Address, Name and select RemoteLinc2 with the correct Scene configuration from the Device Type pulldown. The RL2 entries are very near the top of the list. Put the RL2 into linking mode by pressing the Set button on the RL2 until RL2 LED blinks green.

On 3.1.13 the Link Management drop down menu has a selection for RemoteLinc2 which expands out to "Switch/4 button keypad/8 button keypad". Not sure what Switch does though.
Brian H Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 They make a RemoteLinc2 that is simply a single paddle On Off switch. Kind of like a wireless SwitchLinc. http://www.smarthome.com/2444A3WH/Remot ... tch/p.aspx
MuchHat Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 Thank you all for the prompt responses. I had an older version of the firmware (that the Isy came with out of the box). I upgraded to the latest firmware and it all worked.
connorrc Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I am also having troubles linking ISY99i to Remotelinc2, I read the instructions above... upgraded to Beta 3.1.12, cleared Java Cache and still can't get it to link. Under the options to add Remotelinc, I don't see the additional options referred to for the 4 or 8 button controller (2444 vs. the current 2440)... Additionally I am having troubles registering an Access Point (2443) - also not in the list...
connorrc Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 As I read my post, realizing it refers to 3.1.13, and I loaded 3.1.12.... I updated it to 3.1.13, and cleared Java cache. still not recognizing Remotelinc2...
LeeG Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 connorrc Access Points are not defined to the ISY. There is no configuration or linking of an Access Point so adding it to the ISY would serve no purpose. The RemoteLinc2 is listed in the supported Device Type pulldown at 3.1.13 very near the top of the list. The device type must be specified, it cannot be auto detected. If the Device Type was specified what error is being seen? EDIT: select New INSTEON Device enter Address, Name and select appropriate type from Device Type pulldown Put the RemoteLinc2 into linking mode by pressing Set button until Green LED blinks \Lee
connorrc Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Ok, wasn't sure on the access points ... makes sense... I figured it out... I wasn't re-launching the admin console from the right url... thx..
