copart Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Hi, I am having trouble with the administrative console and being able to see the status of all connected devices. I also tried to search for "administrative console" in the forum and it would not allow me to due to common words, no matter what else I put in for the search. So I apologize if a similar posting exists. I was seeing this on 2.8.16, however, I now have 3.1.13 and still have issues. When I upgraded to 3.1.13 I was able to see status again and I thought the problem was gone. However, it appears that the following day I loose this ability again, even on 3.1.13. I am able to temporarily restore the "current status" if I do "Backup ISY", followed by "Restore ISY". Simply rebooting the ISY (99i Pro) does not help. The interesting thing is that the ISY's website does show current status as well as I get the correct status via REST. So, only the Java app is the one that I am having trouble with. I also tried to rule out Java, I have both Linux and Windows, and lots of different browsers (Firefox, Chrome, and IE) which does not seem to be the issue, they all work right after doing a "Restore ISY." Thank you, Steve
LeeG Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Normally when the Current State column is blank for all devices the ISY is being blocked from pushing data out to the Admin Console by router/AV. What AV is being used? AVAST has been a common problem of late. Also when changing ISY images be sure to clear the Java cache. The Help | About display now shows both the ISY firmware level (Firmware) and the Admin Console level (UI). Be sure both of these indicate 3.1.13. Did not understand the comment about the ISY's web site showing Current State information. Please elaborate.
copart Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 Wow, it was in fact Avast. When updating the Firware I did disable Avast for a few hours just like the instructions said. I now know how to get it to work, I only use the console when I am changing programming, so this will not be a big inconvenience going forward. However, just curious, has anybody found a setting in Avast to change so that the Java app is able to communicate with the network? Thanks again!
LeeG Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Use the forum Search facility and look for avast. There are a number of posts with various work arounds which apparently do not work with the latest AVAST update. One of the posts indicates there is a forum for avast. Perhaps that forum has an answer. One user just went to Norton to avoid the problem.
copart Posted December 18, 2011 Author Posted December 18, 2011 Thank you ! I was able to resolve the Avast issue by setting "Scan traffic from well-known browser processes only" as Brian mentioned at viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6933&p=57544&hilit=avast#p57544
