Brian H Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 It should be showing up in the list under Link Management. Using the Help Tab About choice. See what Firmware and UI it reports. Both should say 3.1.15. Did you follow the information and clear the Java Cache? Which method are you using to access the Administrative Console? If you are using the java applet it has to be the one linked to in the top of the beta announcement for 3.1.15.
neupane00 Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 i updated the firmware again. now i can see remotelinc2 but it cant add to mylighting tree. always fails. it says failed to clear links or something like that. what can i do? please help.
LeeG Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 That message is displayed when the ISY PLM cannot communicate with the device. It could be out of range of a Dual Band device or it was not put into linking mode before doing the New INSTEON Device. Also double check the address label. Sometimes Bs look like 8s, etc.
Brian H Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 You did put it into the Linking Mode before trying to add it?
neupane00 Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 no i didnt. how do i put into linking mode? i did the same thing with old remotelinc without putting into linking mode. i had no idea i had to put in linking mode. is this different than old remotelinc?
LeeG Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 The RemoteLinc could not have been added to the ISY without putting it into linking mode. For the RemoteLinc the Bright/Dim buttons are held on until the RemoteLinc LED blinks. Otherwise the RemoteLinc is asleep and cannot receive commands from the ISY. Same with the RemoteLinc2, it is asleep until put into linking mode. Press the Set button on the bottom of the RemoteLinc2 until the LED at the top of the device blinks Green. The RemoteLinc2 must be added to the ISY within 4 minutes. Otherwise the RemoteLinc2 will go back to sleep.
neupane00 Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 i added remotelinc2. YAY.. I am pretty sure i didnt put remotelinc in linking mode before adding. so weird. and its not only 1 . I added 2 remotelinc. I already assigned scenes to those remote linc. Should i re-do it by putting into linking mode?
Brian H Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 The RemoteLinc and RemoteLinc2 remotes. Have a power saving state they go into to conserve batteries. You can only talk to them when awake in the Linking Mode. If you where able to link to the RemoteLincs and not go into the linking mode. They may not be going back to power saving. If you batteries die fairly quickly. They where not power saving.
