CJVann Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I just got a dual-band PLM, and found I now need an ISY power supply. I found 1 on SmartHome's website, with several reviews saying it doesn't fit all ISY devices, especially the 99i and older ISY's. There is no version number or anything on the back of my ISY, just a S/N. ISY was purchased Sept. 2008. So are there different power supplies, do I need to upgrade to a newer version of ISY... what's required to get this bad boy up & running? Sample feedback from SmartHome below... Universal Devices ISY Power Supply Item# 1223PS plug didn't fit ISYDoes not fit ISY 99 Ir Pro. Barel plug is too small!!Does not fit the new Universal Devices ISY-99/IR Pro. Another adapter is needed.Plug does NOT fit correctly into socket. Too big.Power plug into ISY does not fit properly older ISY units.
Brian H Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I have seen posts where UDI had an adapter for the older units to fit the power supply barrel connector. I am sure they will chime in with the older barrel connectors size or what adapter they can provide.
Brian H Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 The ISY99i is not too fussy to what DC voltage you use. 5 to 30 Volts DC; 500 ma minimum is what the wiki says. So you could buy a supply locally. Making sure the tip is + and it fits the ISY99i. http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... pply_Power viewtopic.php?t=3593
CJVann Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 I bought the Universal Devices ISY power supply from SmartHome that's "For use with all ISY models". I was very disappointed to see there is no way that thing will fit. Anyone know how to get ahold of the adapter for the older (Sept. 2008) ISY99i/IR PRO's? Are there any advantages to purchasing the newer ISY's? (Besides being able to power them up - lol). I may just end up cutting off the connector and soldering it directly to the ISY.
LeeG Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Contact UDI. They will send you an adaptor. See the next to last post in this topic. viewtopic.php?f=27&t=6516&hilit=ISY+power+supply+connector
apostolakisl Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 I went through my box of old wall warts, found one with the right plug, cut it off, and wired it up to my terminal strip 5v lead. The terminal strip is fed by an ATX power supply and powers all of my 5v (and 12v stuff on a second terminal strip). It works beautifully. Very clean, reliable, stable voltage through all amps power supply. And I was able to retire about a dozen bulky, ugly, old, in-effecient second rate wall warts and open all kinds of new plugs.
CJVann Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 Thank you Lee. I like your approach to power, apostolakisl!
