Driveway Alert System (Bully FM231)

and incorporate it into my isy-99i. Has anyone seen something similar? I imagine you could open it up and get some sort of a contact to incorporate into a EZIO.

 

Any ideas?

I have the Dakota Alert model which looks similar, It too will add on to ISY though I have never done that. You could use a I/O and trigger lights very easily. The Dakota has IR motion units as well. Their unit will look at 4 zones witha unique sound for each zone. All said, I have had reliability issues with the Dakota. I think out of my 3 zones, I have had at least one sender replaced on each. The alarm is really nice with a 400' driveway. I have the "metal" sensor such as you have posted near the road, then an IR up at the house, that way a car will trigger immediately and if it is someone walking up the IR gets that. My only other issue is that the "metal" sensor picks up convective activity, i.e. lightning even when it is many miles away. It works fine buried next to the driveway. I would not bury it under the drive unless it was in PVC as, you (will) eventually have to dig it up!

From the Mighty Mule product manual it does not appear to have an external connection built into the receiver.

 

I too have been using a Dakota Alert driveway monitor for many years. I chose the magnetic variant that is buried alongside the driveway. Has worked flawlessly. The receiver monitors up to 4 devices and does have relay connections for each of the 4 devices (channels). I have my Dakota Alert receiver connected to an EZIO6I (first 4 opto-isolated inputs). This has also worked well. Actually have a magnetic sensor buried at the mail box and one along the drive. The other two channels monitor other activity.

 

Most of the EZIOxx devices have some number of opto-isolated inputs. If the Mighty Mule has a digital quality signal that can be connect to an EZIOxx or I/O Linc Sensor (single input) it should work. The problem being it requires going into the internals of the Mighty Mule to find out which will likely invalidate the warranty.

Thanks aLf, my parents have the Bully FM231 and really like the added security. I might just have to "open'er up" and see what I can do!
