paulw Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Had a power failure last night, a few quick flickers before it went out long enough for the generator to kick in. The isy is functioning on it's scheduled programs and only showing traffic it is generating, but nothing from any other devices. Modem restore to resolve?
LeeG Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Power cycle the ISY and the PLM before considering restoring the PLM.
paulw Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 Lee, No luck. Any words of caution on a modem restore? Have never done one.
LeeG Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 It can take a long time and there should be no other Insteon traffic while the Restore Modem (PLM) is running. I would take an ISY Backup before starting the PLM restore.
LeeG Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 I know of no harm it would cause and that would insure the PLM is clean when the restore starts. When I ran my first PLM Restore it ran for an hour or two because there was much activity to individual devices. Was not expecting that so when the restore completed I started the event viewer and ran another restore. The second time it ran in minutes. Never was able to determine what the ISY found the first time that caused it to interact with the devices.
paulw Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 Lee, Interesting, I did the PLM reset, and restored. Ran in minutes. The ISY is now responding to other devices which it did not do before. However, I still see no traffic in the event viewer. Update: Did a reset of the isy, all seems well! Again, Thank you for your help!!!
LeeG Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 The Restore Modem worked if the ISY is reacting to device traffic. Click on My Lighting at the top of the tree which displays all the device nodes in the right pane. Look at the Current State column. I suspect the column is blank for all the devices. If so the ISY has been unable to push device state data to the Admin Console. This can happen from time to time. It is good practice to check the Current State column whenever the Admin Console is started. Normally exiting the Admin Console and starting it again will bring it up with the Current State column populated with current device status, If Current State never shows device status something with the router/AV is stopping the ISY from pushing state change information to the Admin Console. Something to check is Help | About. It should show a Firmware line and immediately below that should be a UI line. Both lines should show 3.1.17 assuming the ISY is running the latest Official release. If on 3.1.17 but both lines are not there or they do not show 3.1.17 clear the Java cache and check the URL being used to invoke the Admin Console.
