Device Status Discrepency

Just starting with home automation. Have an ISY-99ir. Installed a garage door kit and all seems fine. Over 3 to 5 hours of non garage door use, the status of the garage door will change from closed to open under Devices but will have no effect on the Scene controlling the door. The door is still closed. I'm guessing that this is a communication problem. Would I be correct? Thanks.

That is very unlikely. Insteon messages are complex with a validation character (CRC) making it almost impossible for noise to be interpreted as a valid Insteon message. Noise can prevent a valid Insteon message from being recognized but never generating a false Insteon message.

More likely candidates are loose wiring in the magnetic switch connection, magnet is not close enough to the switch, or the "Trigger Reverse" option is being used and the I/O Linc was Queried. Trigger Reverse option reverses the commands sent, On command for Sensor Off, Off command for Sensor On, but it has no affect on the Query response. A Query will change the status to the true Sensor state rather than the reversed state.

Would I be correct in imagining that so solve this 'Query' state change problem, I would turn 'trigger reverse' off and use the black and red sensor leads instead of the black and green leads?

Steve

Yes, that is exactly right.

Thanks, seems to work a treat!
