Teken Posted April 14, 2012 Share Posted April 14, 2012 I wanted to confirm if the ISY has the ability to remove programmed links from another controller such as the SmartLinc? This time last week, I have had two instances where the control and links to the SmartLinc have summarily disappeared from the device. In one case only some of the links were gone. In the other case, all of the links were completely missing. At no time did I perform a hard factory reset of the SmartLinc device. Insight Teken . . . It can overwrite unknown links. All I use the SmartLinc is to either turn on / off the primary load. Nothing fancy is in play here at all. Not even using any of the timers in the SmartLinc device. It would zero out the link database. Is the SmartLinc even defined to the ISY as a device? It would look like an external PLM which the ISY does not support because there are at least three different memory configurations involving external PLMs. EDIT: are the link records actually gone or just the End Of List marker moved to the first entry. That would stop the SmartLinc from looking any further and would stop any application from reading further. There could be physically valid link records further into the link database that are not being accessed. If the SmartLinc was added to the ISY with "erase existing links" it would wipe out the link database but that would be an obvious result of adding the device to the ISY. It has never been added into the ISY, as I was not aware it could be. All I have done is programmed various key loads into the SmartLinc for emergency control. I also have it controlling an ApplianceLink device which (temporarily) is being used to reboot the ISY. I had to remove my remote web switch into another environment for trouble shooting purposes for another site. During the last few Beta releases the ISY has been acting up and at random times has frozen and not allowed me to control it. Using the appliance link relay was my only remote option to reboot the device. The problem I have now is that this and several other devices summarily just disappear from the SmartLinc?? I have re-added the missing devices and will monitor how long this will last . . . I am really hoping I am not going to be experiencing SmartLinc melt down. fitzpatri8 Posted April 15, 2012 Share Posted April 15, 2012 The ISY wouldn't be touching the SmartLinc, but it could be overwriting the responder links in the ApplianceLinc if those links were written after the ApplianceLinc was linked to the ISY. If the Responder links get overwritten, the responder won't know how it is supposed to react to the SmartLinc's signal. After reading your reply. I believe your idea is indeed sound.
