Where to start debugging KPL problems

I recently installed some KPL's in my house. One of them replaced a switchlinc dimmer that worked perfectly. I am now having problems with that KPL, and the others I installed communicating properly with other devices.

 

Specifically, I would like all my lights to be turned off at night when I press the "off" button on the KPL. This feature had been working correctly when I used the switchlinc dimmer. Turned that off turned off everything else (using an ISY program). When I replaced it with the KPL and changed to the code to detect the "KPL switched off" control, only some of the devices that are supposed to turn off actually turn off. The devices that stay on are seemingly random. One night it might be the porch light and table lamps, the next it might be the lawn and corner lights.

 

How should I go about debugging this? I know I can use the event viewer in the admin console, but what should I be looking for? Could there be too much traffic on my Insteon network?

 

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Save and report the results when you turn on/off each device in question via the main screen, at the device level.

 

It will display the number of hops used ( left) for each communication attempt. This is a good place to start. The more left ( preferably 2) the better.

 

Does your program use a scene or individual commands to turn things off?

Thanks for the reply! I use a mixture of scenes and individual commands to control the devices. For example, when I go to bed, I have the lights in the hall way turn up for a minute, so I can see where I am going, but I set the scene that turns of the lights to "on" (I do this because I can put all the devices in one scene and turn them off all at once).

 

I'll post more after I have done a little debugging.
