tflores Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 So I have a dimmer switch in the kitchen and another in close proximity in the family dining area. When I turn on the family dining area manually, the light turns on. When I manually turn on the kitchen lights, the family dining lights also turn on as well and off when I turn off the kitchen lights. I have done the unlink process (never linked them before) with no success. Let me take that back. It used to be that both switches toggled each-other but now I have the problem just with the kitchen overhead.
apostolakisl Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Factory reset the two switches and then restore them from ISY. If the problem persists, then ISY has faulty link table. In that case you need to completely remove the two devices from ISY and then add them back from scratch.
tflores Posted October 19, 2012 Author Posted October 19, 2012 awesome, the factory reset worked. What's weird is how the heck did they link anyway? Anyways, thnx
LeeG Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 There is a package of SwitchLincs that can be purchased where the two SwitchLincs come cross-linked from Smarthome. What was the item ordered?
tflores Posted October 20, 2012 Author Posted October 20, 2012 It was single purchased switch lincs. Sent from my iPhone 4s using Tapatalk
Brian H Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Not too common, but some devices have shipped with some test links and X10 addresses in them. That could have been what happened to you or maybe they where linked together for a kit and then got separated. Many of us now do a factory reset on ours before any linking is done and some also bench test them.
tflores Posted October 20, 2012 Author Posted October 20, 2012 Hmm ok that's a good practice. I will factory reset all lights prior. Thnx Sent from my iPhone 4s using Tapatalk
