Has anyone interfaced Demopad with ISY

Hi,

Demopad seems like it could be a nice Home Automation front end (iPad based) for

ISY, does any one have any experience with Demopad that they would like to share?

Demopad looks really kool - have you found any mention of any UDI controller in the docs?

I have found 1 reference to "Insteon" when searching the demopad docs but have not found

any explanation of how to hitch demopad to any insteon controller, let alone a UDI controller.

A demopad forum search on Insteon returns nada. Support looks pretty bleak to me.

It also looks like a pretty new app - one which I will buy when the path to Insteon

control becomes clearer.

This from the manual appears to be the key to creating a connection. I'll experiment when I get some time.

Devices are the physical TCP/IP units with which the iPad / iPhone will communicate with to accomplish the various home automation tasks. For example, a device may be a Global Cache IP to Infra-Red module, or a Lutron Homeworks processor. Please note, a device would NOT be a particular TV, or DVD player, unless it can be controlled directly through TCP/IP. In the case of an IP to Infra-Red module, this single device in the software could control many pieces of end user equipment, such as TVs, DVD players, Amplifiers etc. Only a single device would be needed in the software in this situation. A device has the following properties:

o IP Address – the static IP address of the device, eg 192.168.1.55

o Port – the communication port used by the device, eg 4998

o Command Suffix – which is amended to each command sent by the device (usually

\x0D\x0A which equals a carriage return & line feed character)

o Remote IP address / port – which is used instead of the normal IP address when the

user sets the ‘Remote Access’ option on the iPad / iPhone. Used for accessing the devices from a remote location.

Well, for better or for worse I've bought demopad. Based on the displayed screenshots it looks very kool.

But the supplied templates look totally unappealing. In order to have anything that is worthy of a demo to the wife

I would have to purchase another $20.00 worth of graphics. No problem, but it ain't-a-gonna happen for a week or 2.

I think I found where one puts the ip address of the globalcache wifi2IR thingy.

But if interfacing it with an ISY unit requires a boatload of hex code then I may just stick with roomie.

It's slick....it's intuitive to set up with your globalcache Wi-fi to IR thinger....and it does actually

control most of what I need to do with no hex codes and having to escape all over the place

and do REST code and jump through hoops and sacrifice your 1st born.

Me thinks demopad needs a little refining and a much better out-of-box experience.

I do very sophisticated configurations of all kinds of different computer hardware

and sometimes....one just wants to find a little simplicity in life. Looks like demopad ain't it.

It has alot of potential though it's going to take me awhile, maybe a long while before

I would have it set up to be anything slick and beautiful like the screenshots.
