Does a dual band device, for example a 2457D2 LampLinc Dimmer, repeat a powerline only signal, say from a 2450 I/O Linc in the RF band? If the 2457D2 dimmer receives an an Insteon RF signal, does it repeat that signal on the powerline? I am trying to improve the communication between a PLM and the 2450. Will using a 2450D2 help to improve the bi-directional communication between a PLM and the 2450? Thanks!

This is bizarre. I just noticed a few of my programs are missing. The weird part is I can see them in mobilinc but not in the admin dashboard. They run just fine but are missing from the admin dashboard. Anyone have any ideas how I can find them again? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Whatever happened to the testing of the ISY by SDG&E to be listed on their accepted HAN list? Is it no longer cost effective to have this device tested? Thanks

I got curious and decided to punch some holes in a LampLinc to let the faint sound "out of the box". At the risk of letting the magic smoke out too I was curious to see how these things are constructed inside. Here is the case cracked open Note the small sounder is glued into the case front and has short wires. It has to be split open front cover to guts but snaps back together after. After removing the heatsink to expose more PCB details. This can be a PITA to get back on as they have used a lock and nut underneath where it isn't reachable. Some gentle bending of triac leads had to be performed. Here is the PCB from the left, and right views. …

Hi- I've been getting an error with my ISY setup, and I'm having trouble figuring out how to troubleshoot. Here's what's happening. When I open the ISY application on the PC, I get an error stating that it cannot connect to one of my devices. The device will show up with the red exclamation point next to it on the device table. Using the MobiLinc Pro app on my phone, I can send a command to the device that the ISY can't connect to, and I send it a command (typically an ON or OFF). Once I do that, the ISY appears to be able to connect to the device in question. Any hints on how I could troubleshoot the connection issue to try to resolve it? Thanks.

Hi All, I'm looking for an opinion. I'm in the process of installing maglocks on my house doors. I think I'm over complicating this. I have three doors with maglocks installed. The locks themselfs work great, I'm just in the process of figureing out the control side. I have three RFID kits to control entry and each maglock has a dry contact to monitor door position. I want the ISY to control each door individually so I need three outputs. I want the ISY to be able to monitor each door position, so there I need three inputs. Now here is where I think I'm over complicating the scenario. I want it to be not only fail safe but fail secure. So I have all three maglocks backed…

Hello UD community, I am having some trouble with the sensor status on one of my IOLinc devices and an hoping somebody here may have some insight in to whats happening. Some info about my setup: I have an IOLinc hooked up to a motorized entry gate. It(the IOLinc) was installed a little over a year ago and has been working perfectly. The gate has two sources of control. The remotes and the IOLinc that is linked to a button on a KPL. The configuration is identical to a garage door Except that until yesterday it was missing the status sensor. The problem: My ISY is not getting the sensor status update from the IOLinc. The sensor is ON when the gate is closed and OFF as so…

I have searched and can not find this anywhere. I have a simple scene with two light switches and a keypadlinc button - the button turns the light switches on/off. However, when I control the scene (turning it on/off) via the ISY 994 the button led does not change, but the light switches do change. When I run the scene diagnostic test, the keypadlinc button fails. What have I missed? Thanks in advance

I am trying to test the dusk/dawn functionality on my motion sensors and it does not seem to be working. I have set night mode on the motion sensor, but it is not reporting back as in dusk.dawn mode. the MS is in a box right now with no light and it does respond to motion.

This question has to do with a problem I observed with a 2476D SwitchLinc Dimmer W/Beeper v.40. It was continuously writing as I observed it on the Administration Console. I monitored with the Event Monitor using level 3. Below is some of the monitor's text in which it gave the following "Failed Writing" error: Sun 01/10/2016 06:49:14 AM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 1B AB AF 0F 28 0F Sun 01/10/2016 06:49:14 AM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 1B.AB.AF 0F 28 0F 06 SET-MSB(0F) Sun 01/10/2016 06:49:18 AM : [1B AB AF 1 ] Link 8 : 0FB8 [A22D1E49614C1E01] *Failed Writing [............1E..] Sun 01/10/2016 06:50:02 AM : [1B AB AF 1 ] Link 8 : 0FB8 [A22D1E49614C1E01] Writing…

Was taking my Christmas lights down today and I thought I would try to get an Insteon LampLinc module to work with my living room lamp. No luck. Here's what I did: 1) Factory reset the LampLinc by plugging it in (with lamp on and connected), holding the link button. 2) LampLinc gave out long beep then stopped. 3) Released link button and lamp came on 4) On ISY, selected Start Linking 5) Pressed link button until beep sounded 6) Continue to hold link button until two beeps sounded 7) On ISY, message indicated the device was added. 8 ) Selected Add 9) Got error message: "Cannot determine Insteon engine." 10) Captured event viewer output (level 3) below Im…

Does anyone happen to know what the minimum setpoint is on the 2441TH? I am investigating the possibility of installing one in a garage where the normal winter setpoint will be 35 to 40F. I am thinking of when the garage door is open via the IOlinc, I can with the ISY disable the furnace. Thanks, dave

I've got 2 of them. They see Insteon commands for on/off by seeing LED go on and off but relay does not activate. They see that sensor has been closed by LED but do not send Insteon. Anyone fix these? For postage I'll give away.

I have a very short program that checks the status of the Insteon Motion Sensor Loew Battery indicator. If it's On, it sends me a text so I know it's low and needs to be replaced. If it's not, it waits 12 hours and checks again. I am getting a text indicating that the Low Battery is On even though it shows it's off in the Admin Console. What's up with this?

I was searching for a door bell solution for my house which has a wireless doorbell. My thinking was to use a wired button connected to an IOLinc input and use the IOLinc output to trigger a hacked wireless doorbell button. That way the IOLinc would trigger the ISY and the wireless doorbell receiver at the same time. While searching around I found a Honeywell unit that would accept other inputs for chimes such as motion sensors and door contacts. So that got me to dreaming and googling. An hour latter I came up with this. MP3 board with 18 trigger inputs https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11029 A couple of Smartenit EZIO40 four output relays http://www.smarthome.c…

I wanted to start a new thread about how a very clever and smart Insteon user has been able to use the power of the HUB II, ISY, and the Amazon Echo so it works almost as one system via voice control. The direct thread is listed here: http://forum.smarthome.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=17353 I believe the beauty of this method is that it does not require all of the hoops, middle ware, and endless coding to get something basic up and running. This information came at the perfect time as I am currently running a demo system for a project. Our resident Stu has alreay completed the above and perhaps he can chime in to the pro's and con's of this approach over the other …

Hi, I use an ISY994 IR Pro & it has been great. Lately I noticed that both in the web access, Admin app, & mobilinc that items are not in sync. Like right now it says Rich office ceiling is off on all three (Admin, Web, Mobilinc) but it is turned on. If i hit the off button, the lights go off. If i hit on (when light is off), the light will not turn on. If i hit fast on, it does turn on. Off seems to work just fine. Any ideas what is causing the problem? I am using Firmware 4.2.8. Things used to work fine & are semi working now but something isnt right. Thanks, Rich

I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to speed up the execution of the programs I have defined on the ISY. Right now it takes a second or so from the time the action is triggered until the program is evaluated and the result executed. While I could understand that kind of a delay on a very complex program, the one I have just has two comparisons to make, yet still takes that second. Specifically what I have is this. One of the buttons on my mini-keypad is linked to my office light. Pressing this to turn the light on or off is basically instantaneous. I then linked this same button to a program which evaluates two things - first is the right button pressed an…

Howdy, I've just found out that one of my iolinc's reports it's sensors ON/Off state backwards from the rest of my iolincs. I've confirmed that none of them have the "trigger reverse" option set. From reading, it appears that the state the iolinc's sensor is in when it's added to the ISY is used to determine whether that is an ON or OFF. My guess is I had the sensor in the wrong state when I added it to the ISY (well, opposite of my other iolincs when they were added). My gut was that I have to unlink the iolink from the ISY and re-link it back again. Problem is I have a bunch of programs that will "break" if I remove the device and re-add it. Is t…

I am very excited to see that the ISY has support for the Amazon Echo but after watching the latest video over in the "How To" section I am a bit disappointed to see that I may have to say "Alexa, tell Issy to..." every time that I want to run an scene or command. Can this phrase be changed or simplified? Such as "Alexa, turn off light." Thanks! I have been using 3 different iMeter (2423A1) for some time and it has been working well with ISY 994i/IR. I have a program set to query the iMeters every 15 minutes so that the log files are capturing the accumulated power over the day. I export the log every few months and complete an analysis of the power consumption per device I am monitoring. I am looking for long trend lines on power usage for my media center, deep freeze, home server, etc. All has been working great until a few months ago one of the iMeter (v.87) started to report negative values for current state and the accumulated power was some huge number. I have reset the device and even changed what is plugg…

Haven't been here in a while, guess things have been running smoothly. I have a 994i, running 4.3.26, and maybe 60 different devices incl. keypads, switches, relays, motions and thermostats, and a rich and complex programming structure. I posted some parts of it as samples and examples here. I have a number of keypads some are used strictly for ISY generated scenes to control lights, but most are used as mini-control centers to trigger programs, like opening the curtains, or telling the furnace to up the temp for a hour, that sort of thing. They also display information, like the garage door is open. Overnight all of my keypads have lost several aspects of their f…

Having just purchased an ISY earlier this year, I am still a newbie at ISY programming. I've found that regardless of one's programming experience with more transitional languages, the ISY environment and programming can sometimes throw you for a loop. Yesterday, I ran into an issue that took some head-scratching to figure out what was going on. But, once I recognized the cause, it was an "Oh. duh." moment. I share that issue below, and hope that other more experienced ISY programmers will jump in and share their own bite-sized tidbits of wisdom on ISY programming problems/solutions/workarounds/etc. Here's my Gotcha: I have a program to turn on some outside …
