    HomeKit support

Ok now that are on track to see all eisy devices in HomeKit app, next question will be what devices will be seen in HomeKit native Insteon, Zwave which have direct support or others like echobee, Harmony which are added into eisy via PG3

    HomeKit support

This forum request is for direct HomeKit compatibility from eisy…not by using another homebridge hub…like HA or Hoobs, l use Hoobs and able to import all native devices into HomeKit

    HomeKit support

Yes hoping for something soon for eisy, just curious as I never tried this in ISY, did it supported just Insteon devices or all devices that are in ISY.

    HomeKit support

Quick question, so this implementation will not need a separate homebridge hub correct?

    ISY without Java?

All issues describe here are the same with my eisy experience as well…it’s just not the best way to get to eisy UI on a web browser any chance we can get rid of Java? UD Mobile is great way but not everything can be done via mobile app.
  7. I keep running into this at random times, fresh install all works then suddenly it doesn’t launch and l get different errors…Cannot validate, failed to launch application, certificate out of date etc…

    HomeKit support

My numbers 20-30% are new users not currently using eisy, hence not in this forum and a gut feel. Re value, yes no value if you just implement a HA which allows control form a multiple apps, one too many logins, needs reboot now and then almost reminds me of earlier windows PC etc… Here is what I have implemented, multiple iPads in the house ruining RR on the wall, powered 24/7, use them to control device, activity, guided access makes it 100% working all the time just like a any lcd HA touch screen control, home sharing, etc… Lights, cameras, sensor status, doors, locks, thermostats all in place, RR also has direct IP links to 1000 of AV devices so you can put all in one place AV and Lights and Cameras and so on… …have you or anyone taken an in-depth dive on the power and all the features of RR? Then one would know what I am taking about ? see snapshots of just tow rooms and they are all in sync, one, app, master and client devices etc…. its 95% close to any professional system at a fraction of the cost and scalable, customizable without the need to call for someone to come and visit…

    HomeKit support

Yes and that killer app or should I say apps is a Combo of HomeKit and Roomie Remote…😀…RR supports HomeKit as such this is an indirect way to get all eisy devices in RR

    HomeKit support

Also note Insteon and isy994 and now eisy, I hope built on the same quality…are world class products, in built quality, reliability and long lasting and can demand same premium as Crestron Lutron etc…it’s more of DIY solution vs professional installation hence super expensive.

    HomeKit support

Agree…but Insteon devices replaced by existing manual devices should be ok while selling all other items are peripherals hence no certification needed. But once we make it minimal hubs, standard systems like HomeKit and 99% stable no day to day maintenance changes, etc…it should add value, l sold my previous house with only Insteon switches and did get value, the new house has switches, curtains, cameras, sensors, garage door openers etc…all integrated with Roomie Remote and with in wall touchscreen control via iPad and almost 99% maintenance free very stable, but under the hood is what scares me and anyone in future, hence the need for one hub one app…as outlined, in my opinion eisy and RR offers just that…only if the one missing link HomeKit support is added.

    HomeKit support

I use Hoobs, but the point I am trying to make is for UD to capture 20-30% more they have to directly support HomeKit. l can also think of a future date say when all of us with multiple hubs, eisy, HA, Hoobs, Hue etc…and in some cases do some coding as well in HA and Hoobs…what to sell our homes and say it’s a smart home and get some premium, we may get into some negative impact when we start to explain how all these things work together. Unless the buyer is a techie as well, but one is then going into a smaller niche market segment, few buyers will value this.

    HomeKit support

Will we ever see HomeKit support ? Honestly UD is missing out 20-30% market for those who live in that ecosystem…true smartthings is more popular but a huge miss by not supporting HomeKit… In my opinion when there was no HomeKit and others isy, and now eisy were the best, however they need a lot of technical knowledge and will remain a niche market only for tech savvy HA enthusiasts. With the introduction of HomeKit non techies can also do HA…however platforms like UD (which will still remain a very good platform) but only for those niche techie users…hence my assessment of a missed opportunity of 20-30% upside. I agree to all the arguments apple not that open, difficult to work with expensive etc…but the truth is it does have a huge new market place. One can get get HomeKit support via homebrdige but again we are going towards techies not common house hold users. …with Matter support based on my previous blog posted it seems iffy, How l wish we could one day dramatically see all eisy devices in HomeKit

    Roomie Remote and eisy

The problem is the nodes they work fine in eisy and doesn’t work in any third party apps like RR, Hoobs, Mobilinc… hoobs is being used to bring other devices which doesn’t support apple HomeKit like Alarm.Com and then into RR…I use the old isy homebridge in hoobs and it just works fine with eisy. I have 50+ Insteon devices that I have, but again they all work well across all platforms it only the PG3 nodes that we have issues.

    Roomie Remote and eisy

RR support HomeKit and I believe HA support HomeKit so all devices would show up in RR, I use Hoobs instead of HA. Yes l can bring all Ecobee, MyQ, Hue etc to RR via HomeKit or directly into RR, but as outlined before RR has limited automation where as eisy is 10x better…just like RR is 10x better than UD Mobile. My wish is one hub one app…eisy + RR is the best combo !

    Roomie Remote and eisy

What I meant with “impossible” was not technically but due to all the other factors that you outlined…including the biggest of all, not many use cases, hence lack of interest , unfortunately my wish to see all devices that we bring into one powerful hub and the best one for automation @ eisy then make all those devices available for control in a great UI and easy to use APP will remain a wish.

    Roomie Remote and eisy

Yes all is good with Native devices, but as I understand it’s impossible for third party APPs to support PG3 nodes. Bottom line is if devices are recognized in eisy it should seamlessly transfers to third party APPs which support eisy as is. Kudos to UD for UD mobile can recognize all PG3 nodes but that’s the only app l have see so far…all others (RR, Hoobs, Moblinc) doesn’t work and even if the third party is willing to work, it will be a nightmare to go after and implement test etc all 100 of PG3 nodes, that’s why kudos to UD mobile team they can make it happen, but UD Mobile is as good as it can get to replace ISY console and a true HA app…like RR, HomeKit and others with great ease of use UI etc…including multi rooms, home etc…

Agreed, but the argument still holds nothing is broken correct ?

    Roomie Remote and eisy

Appreciate all the efforts from your side…guess not much one can do here. However as it stands from the blog discussions, third party nodes may or may not work depending on how they are developed and ported…so nothing is broken correct? So even if third parties get the eisy there is nothing much they can do. As outlined before, all native devices in eisy work as expected in RR, Hoobs, UD mobile, Mobilinc and UD web access…and HomeKit via Hoobs home bridge

    Roomie Remote and eisy

Ageee 100% it’s upto RR. Re 2X/3X my estimates were based on making it work with all apps (RR, HomeKit, smart things etc..) for all devices native and nodes agreed it’s a great effort and a lot of investment, but UD is the best automation hub and UI (for automation) out there…automation platform + ease of use UI as in a control App is a killer combination! Unfortunately UD is more of a replacement for ISY console and never match the UI and ease of use of other apps.

    Roomie Remote and eisy

“Just a much prettier interface” this is huge for eas of use…also what about home share, multiple homes, camera support, intercom, custom screens without the need for any PC development platform…why I keep stressing RR is the fact that this is one of the best platform for mass usage development and deployment and if eisy can interface 99% it can easily become a mass platform vs a nice platform for now….revenue can be 2X,3x who knows…all you need is one hub (hub less HA best but almost impossible) and one app to control, view, customize etc, RR+eisy comes very close but for missing node devices which makes it limited to only devices with native support. Also RR has HomeKit compatibility (besides smartthings) so if you have any devices that are HomeKit compatible you can see them instantly in RR

There is no easy compare…it’s on a scale of 1:10 different…just see roomie remote homepage, https://roomieremote.com/

    Roomie Remote and eisy

I agree with all the posts, not many uses cases so that should be the final conclusion, no node devices support. Re UD Mobile, yes it’s a great app and being UDs own it works will all node devices …but there is no comparison of this wilt Roomie Remote and HomeKit apps. Guess one has to live with multiple apps vs one app doing all for you that I was hoping for. Pro and Cons of eisy platform ! The HA world is moving toward one app does it all, matter and other attempts to do that, also no hub is the future, all devices connect directly via Wi-Fi, thread, matter…l can only see eisy not participating in that overall scheme of things. But yes due to the huge other advantages eisy will be a favorite hub.

    Roomie Remote and eisy

oh ok…wonder why UD has been silent about this, vs saying third party should update, if they new it’s going to be a huge challenge so much so that their own web access cannot be implemented well it’s not worth pursuing…surely there are alternative ways to see all these devices in third party apps, it would have been nice if they all worked from one platform! Overall 5-stars for eisy platform great job UD keep it going 👍
