  1. Thought I would let people know my experience. I finally ended up buying a Polisy. After a lot of help from @MrBill and the UDI staff, I was able to update my Pi to Polyglot version 2.2.11 and create a backup. After some issues with Polisy and Polyglot which Michel came to the rescue, I was able to get the backup restored on Polisy. Everything working perfectly. Fortunately I did not have to rebuild my Tag node server and was able to load Jimbo's notification node server. This all started when vtext was delaying my text messages for as much as three days. Mr Bill pointed me to the Notification node server and if anyone has problems with their text messages, this node server with PushOver is best thing since sliced bread. Appreciate everyone's hints and help. In a way looking back, I am glad I had the problem with vtext and my Pi. I now feel like I am ready for the future.
  2. asbrill. You and two others, Mr Bill and Jimbo, convinced me that was the way to go. Hopefully I will get it tomorrow
  3. Everyone thanks for your tips and advice. I copied my programs to excel and that will help me remember if things go south. But excited about getting my Polisy in a couple of days. Will post how things good. Could be useful for someone else. thanks again
  4. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to go about moving my node servers from a Pi to Polisy. I am running Polyglot 2.2.3 that does not have a backup button. I have a Tag and an OpenWeatherMap node server running on a Pi. I bought a Polisy this morning and began thinking about the 60 or so ISY programs that access these nodes. I wanted to add the Notification Node Server but my installation was too old. If I shut down the Pi, delete the node servers from the ISY but remembering which slot they are in, and then add them to the Polisy, will my ISY programs which use the node values stay intact. I suspect not but hopefully I will be surprised by someone else that has gone through this. Thanks in advance for any assistance or thoughts A note: if I would have known what I know today, I would not have gone down the Pi route. It has worked fine for me this past year but if you don't keep up with Pi and Polyglot updates, you get in the position I am in. A big thank you to Jimbo who held my hand this weekend as I tried to upgrade to Polyglot 2.2.11. Needless to say my installation was just to far out of date. Some luck was with me although in that the 20% off coupon for the Polisy is still available until June 25.
  5. Thank you Mr. Bill. I will look this over. What you are doing is exactly what I was doing with text messages. Since those have not worked for the past few days, i am lost. Still working with Jimbo to find a reason why I cannot install 2.2.11 successfully and save my credentials. Also cannot get the notification server to show up in the ISY. Not been a joyous day today.
  6. Mr. Bill I noticed that too and I started over with a clean sd card without the notification node server. I upgraded to 2.2.11 with I think no issues. However I cannot get the node sever to show up in the ISY. I have asked Jimbo for some help and sent him the log. However, I do have a basic question which I am not clear on. (I probably have read the instructions 7 times.) Do I create my messages (actual text) in Polyglot in the config panel and then call those nodes in a program in the ISY. So instead of an email or text message in the ISY, all my messages are in Polyglot? Thanks again for your help for a 72 year old trying to know more than my grandson and nephews.
  7. Mr. Bill. I reverted back to Polyglot 2.2.3 and was able to add the notification node server. I created a notify message in the Config and I can see it in the ISY. I will play with this tomorrow and see how I can create a program to push a message to my phone I realize I am using an old version of Polyglot and this node server may not work but at least it saves my credentials so my other nodes are working for tonight. appreciate your help I may have a question tomorrow Just wonder why my credentials will not save in the latest Polyglot utimately I may have to purchase a Polisy
  8. Mr. Bill. Thank you for getting me started. I did enter my keys in those places and created a message. Prior to my credential issue I could see the notification node server in my ISY but could not see any messages when I tried to write a test program Nothing would show up in the drop down for messages Wondering if I skipped a step somewhere either in the ISY to the Polyglot setup. Not sure if you can help with such a vague question I did backup my SD card so I may start over tomorrow I assume I just delete the node from the ISY to do that thanks again btw I did restart the Pi but no change
  9. Mr. Bill. Thank you for getting me started. I did enter my keys in those places and created a message. 10. Mr Bill I have the app on my phone and created the ISY application in the Pushover website. I upgraded Polyglot to the latest version. I acknowledged per Jimbo's instructions, but I don't know if I should have entered my User Key here below on the configuration page. But I did. I have the Node Server showing up in the ISY. I created messages in Polyglot Config area for both short Messages and Notify Messages where I did enter both keys but nothing shows up in the ISY. However, before I can continue, I am having problems with Polyglot saving my ISY credentials. It just will not save them. As a result I have lost my Tag values the OpenWeather information because the connection is lost. Also when opening and closing my ISY Admin Console, I received an error where it was asking me to reenter my credentials and had long system busy when I tried to start the ISY. I submitted a ticket to help with these two issues. But Mr. Bill I wonder if you can answer this question. I added a short message and a notify message. Where will I see those show up. I wrote a program to access those messages but I don't see them in the ISY drop down for the Notification Server. Note this was before I lost connection to Polyglot. I have not tried anything yet with the Network Resource. I need to get my feet wet first before I get to where I really need the Push notification for some variables. Thanks for your help.
  11. Mr. Bill. Thank you for getting me started. Looking forward to working on this tomorrow. Feel lost without my text messages. Also thanks in advance if I do post again.
  12. Mr Bill. Thank you. I have a free afternoon tomorrow and I will look at this. I have a RPI 4 and have had great luck with OpenWeather and the Tag NodeServers. i have come to rely on text messages for a number of critical home issues and can't live for hours of delay thanks again
  13. Just started a couple of days ago. I received a message from google saying my text messages were either delayed or lost coming from ISY to my iPhone. I am using a gmail account in the ISY. Emails are coming fine, it is just the text messages are being delayed. Last night they started again but in many cases hours later. I did change to the default option but that did not make any difference. Anyone else having this issue and if so did you find a solution Thanks
  14. Larry. Thanks for your willingness to get me educated. I had to stop for a while. My wife is undergoing treatments and I am helping her get through them. Where I had to stop is in getting the Arduino serial to accept a two digit integer. Talk about confusing sources on the web. Unbelievable But thanks again. My wife knows I converse with a forum member from Ontario She showed me this link and said the stay at home was meant for everyone. Hope you enjoy the video, not the staying home part https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oRgGAKnbWQc
  15. Larry Thanks very much for your help. I will be honest, the code above was a little beyond me, however I found a post and some code you provided to the forum a couple of years ago. I was able to modify that code and I now can receive a pushed variable from the ISY. Where I ran into complications was trying to incorporate some python code to make a serial connection to the Arduino. I ended up with two python programs. The second program is initiated and also terminated from the first program. I had to do this to close the serial connection to the Arduino. I also had to start and stop the serial connection in the Arduino to get it to respond to different values of the variable. Flushing the connection did not work for me. Got everything finalized today and I set up the ISY to push a variable so the Arduino wishes my wife a Happy Birthday in a few days. I am sure there are more elegant ways to do this but being a novice at python, I am happy I could get this to work. Thanks again for your guidance.
  16. Larry I just added the code to my RPI. I will be looking at it this weekend when I have time in between my honeydo projects. Once again, thanks for giving me a running start. What I have now is an on/off module which turns my Arduino on and off based on what is happening in the ISY. With your help above, I want the Pi to distinguish which message track to play on my Arduino Sketch and the amplifier connected to it. Now it just plays "Unauthorized Entrance", Police have been called". Thanks again my Canadian Friend.
  17. Larry. Thanks very much. I will give this a try. Much more than I expected but looking at the code, not sure I am smart enough to develop on my own. i will let you know my progress and what I am trying to do at a later time. Thanks again
  18. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction i have a RPI sending a numeric value to an Arduino. I would like that variable to come from the ISY and be read by a Python3 program. I am pretty much a novice when it comes to getting devices to work together so not sure where to start. i have an ISY 994i Pro with the network module running 5.0.16 firmware thanks in advance for any help
  19. Mr Bill and TroganHorse. That Node Server is exactly what want. I have had my internet providers internet cable laying across my backyard for the past 6 weeks just waiting for someone to trip on it and pull out the connections. Going out of town for a few days and this solution gives some peace of mind. Thanks again
  20. Mr Bill. I have an RPi. I currently do something similar to detect a battery failure for a Tag. I may try this if what TroganHorse suggests does not work for me. The programs I want to disable are associated with motion detectors because of false positives. Without the internet I would not know that is happening Both are great suggestions. The only reason I did not pursue Mr Bill's solution immediately is I am trying to avoid the log entries I would have with checking my Tag values in smaller intervals. I will try these solutions tomorrow. Thanks again
  21. Hope someone can help. I have a situation where if I lose my internet connection, I need to have the ISY disable some programs. Is there any check I can program the ISY to make to detect the loss of its internet connection Thanks in advance for anyone's thoughts or ideas
  22. Thanks Mr Bill. I bought an A1 card today to have on hand. I also reevaluated my needs and reduced how often the Tags are brought down to the ISY in these warmer months. Also extended the update times for many of the tags to save on battery replacements. Since I had many Tag programs in the ISY, I disabled some of them also Mr. Bill I read the Forum most every day. Thanks for taking the time to help so many users
  23. Thank you. I will do that tomorrow. Was not looking forward to redoing all those programs
  24. Thank you Mr Bill. Just what I needed. A follow up if you don't mind. The reason I am disassociating the tags is to reduce the number of log entries and the associated writes to the SD card. With Polyglot bringing down the Tag values every 15 minutes I am recording about 5000 entries to the log each week. I saw some discussion on the forum awhile back and I think the conclusion was there was no way to reduce the log entries. Is that still correct. Thanks again
  25. Hope someone has done this before. I have 10 Tags, which during the winter the information is needed for some issues I have with freezing in various locations. I don't need that information now that the weather is warmer. Five of the tags are still needed to provide information on a 15 minute basis. If I disassociate 5 of the tags from the web interface, will Polyglot on the Pi still assume there are 10 Tags and continue to bring data down from the website. With a disassociation I am not sure what the web application will do. The reason for my question; I am hoping I don't need to delete the Tag Node Server and add it back. If I have to do that, all of my ISY programs will be impacted. Thanks in advance if anyone has experience doing this
