  1. Update: I didn't notice it right away because the IP address changed. It appears to be working after running the commands that Michel provided, as follows: ----- " Hi James, I am so very sorry to hear. If you can ssh or login directly, please do this: sudo pkg install -f isy sudo pkg install -f udx sudo tail -f /var/udx/logs/log ... wait till it either errors out (let me know the error) or successfully starts. If successfully starts: sudo shutdown -r now If it errors out, please let me know the error." ----- So, to clarify, when I ran the first two commands I got the prompt back very quickly, so I wasn't sure if I should run the tail command right after. I tried it and got a few errors but then a little later the second command apparently finished and it rebooted. After that I reconnected and ran the tail command (was just for logs I'm assuming but no big deal to run it for future reference). Later I noticed on my phone that it had come back up (from the app) so I went in and tried IoX which worked with a new IP it grabbed. Everything seems to look okay and I ran a few tests which worked. Interestingly, the 3 landscape light switches all still work - even though I added them to the old ISY system yesterday. I shut down the ISY and as of now the EISY seems to be back up and running fine. Added bonus - in the process it upgraded to version 5.9.1 Kudos to Michel!
  2. I tried it again and it runs successfully but doesn't fix anything. After every reboot I have to tell it to release/renew an IP address in order to connect again. Once connected, no changes and still in the same state. Michel responded to my ticket this morning and sent me some commands to run. As far as I can tell, those commands didn't fix anything yet. After running those, I can no longer connect with IoX. I'll reply back with any significant updates and hopefully a resolution once Michel provides next steps.
  3. Yeah I did that last evening. Just waiting to hear back. In the meantime trying to make some progress but epic fail so far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Yes I can ssh to it, and I attempted the command suggested earlier, assumedly to force the packages install and reboot. Didn't work though. I got several lines of "pkg: An error occured while fetching package", "unable to update repository udi" and "error updating repositories" All attempts to factory reset have failed so either it's half bricked or I'm doing it wrong. I've tried pushing the button 10 times both when its up with a blue power button and when its down with a red power button.
  5. Sorry if it wasn’t clear. I got into the old isy994 and added my lights outside to the old system for now. Now I’m back to trying to factory reset the eisy. Was the ssh suggestion for the factory reset of the eisy? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I didn't try the 8080 but did try the other one. I was able to get in by using the portal, but I had to pony up another $44 for my old ISY license because it wouldn't function until I renewed the license. Oh well, at least for now I was able to add the outside lighting into the old system until I get some help for UD support. What's especially odd about this, though, is that the EISY won't even factory reset, but it will let me log in to the admin console. Things like time zone don't seem to sync, I can't uncheck network settings options, it won't reboot or restart IoX within the console, etc. All I should have to do to factory reset is push the little reset button 10 times, correct? Am I missing something?
  7. yes I can ping it, and I verified that the IP is correct - even power cycled with a ping -t and watched it go off and back on. The launcher won't add it and a browser says ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED
  8. So even pushing the button 10 times did not seem to revert to factory because it still isn't getting an IP address on its own. Now when I assigned it IoX finds it but no longer shows the menu to start the console. Totally sucks. For the old ISY, should I be able to use the same IoX launcher to connect to it? I have the ISY994 up and using a static IP that I had set up in the past, but IoX won't find it and won't connect by IP address. I tried both http://1.2.3.4/desc format and http://1.2.3.4:8443/desc and both with https but I get Not Found. I also cleared Java cache, apps, etc. Is there something I need to do in order to be able to connect to the old one using the currently installed Java and Iox? Thanks.
  9. ok thanks Dennis. I did try pushing the reset button 10 times, but it's been 20 minutes and still on the red light. I suspect it did nothing like the other things I tried, but I will wait longer to try bringing it back up again. in the meantime, I will probably bring up the old ISY994 and add the landscape lights back on that one. It's a security issue because we are in the middle of the woods, and it's pitch black out there without them!
  10. Thanks Jimini, that information was helpful. I was not aware of the red/blue sequence causing an update. In fact, my intent was to power off the device before unplugging it and must have ended up with it coming back on to upgrade. In any case, I tried the red/blue sequence again, but in my case it didn't make any difference. I did open a ticket but since it was on Friday I'm floating helpless until Monday because I'm doubtful that support will help over the weekend, and unable to control my landscape lights outside (it's so dark!). It's in an odd state at this point: 1. I can get into the console locally with a monitor and keyboard. 2. DHCP doesn't work on its own but I can use a sudo command to release/renew an IP, which is enough to connect using IoX. 3. In the IoX, all of my devices and programs are there, and I did a backup in its current state, but the Zwave menu is unavailable/not responding. 4. I tried the reset button 5 times for reboot, and also 6 times to reset the zwave dongle. Both seemed to have yielded nothing. After the 6 button presses the power button has been red for about 15 minutes so far, so I tried pushing the power button to see if it changes to blue, but it stayed red. I'm thinking it could still be resetting the dongle or doing nothing at all. Who knows!? Nothing on the screen of the connected monitor, though. 5. Next I'm thinking of 10 presses for a factory reset and then maybe restoring whatever backup I have OR following the migration backup/restore that I did almost a year ago, but of course I'd lose my changes since then. If you or anyone else is reading this and have any other ideas, I'd appreciate anything else to try! Thanks, I did open one last night, but since I'll be down the whole weekend waiting on a response on Monday I'm trying to find other solutions in the meantime.
  11. I was doing some maintenance on my servers and unplugged the EISY. Later on my phone I noticed that it appears it may have been in the middle of an upgrade when it was powered off because there was a notification from the EISY app that it was upgrading. After that it wouldn't come back up correctly. I was not aware that it was upgrading nor was I aware that it would upgrade on its own! I am able to get to the console with a monitor and keyboard and logon with default admin account, and I was able to set the dhcp address and login with iox and the admin console. At this point I can log into the admin console with my usual credentials and see my devices, programs etc. but none of them work if I try to turn them on. Anything I try says request failed. All devices are zwave. The Z-wave menu says "Zmatter z-wave not responding". I've tried powering off and removing the zwave dongle and plugging it back it, but no luck. It does show up on the computer in device manager, but with ? icons - not sure if that is normal. HELP! Other symptoms are that it doesn't seem to reboot remotely from the admin console and restarting iox from the admin console does nothing. logs show "0 null Fri 2025/03/07 08:54:23 PM System Unknown " repeatedly but with updated timestamps, of course. I would consider trying a factory reset but before I try anything else I wanted to see what you recommend next. I do have backups including zwave devices if needed, but they are a couple months old. That would be fine but I need guidance on what to do next and whether to try a factory reset. I can't control any lights. what a mess! Thanks!
  12. Hey SBernard, thanks for the follow up suggestion. The workaround of using the Alexa app to control the scene/routine has been working well, but I would like to be able to get it to work reliably natively also at some point. I've been using DHCP reservations all along, so I don't think a static IP will make a difference in my situation, but it is definitely worth a try! I have a spare Govee bulb I haven't set up yet so maybe I'll give it a static IP and give it a try for testing purposes. Thanks again!
  13. I'll probably experiment with this just because I'm curious :-). by the way, I checked and Alexa routines do allow you to be more granular with regards to setting schedules, where you can do offsets, times of day, etc. Either way, the current way I have it set up with Alexa routine running an EISY scene first, and then running the Govee commands directly afterwards, is working well and seems to be a decent workaround. Sams Club has the Govee bulbs pretty cheap and they seem to be pretty reliable so far, and reasonably well made. I've had Govee temp/humidity sensors for quite a while and they are very reliable.
  14. interesting idea. One advantage to doing it that way (although I'm not sure how it would be done) would be that I think setting schedules in Alexa routines is limited to dusk and dawn - unlike the flexibility in EISY, but I haven't messed with it yet so there may be other ways to tweak the timing in Alexa routines
  15. Does anyone know if the GE Cync bulbs will work with EISY? I didn't see any nodes in the PG3 store for it but I may have overlooked it or it could be under another node name. Thanks
  16. Thanks for the replies and suggestions. It did end up rediscovering the 5 devices after I sent this out, but the next morning they were dead in the water again. It's a shame because the Govee devices work really well within their own app and within Alexa. I may check out Hue or others, but in the meantime, I'm working around it with Alexa by using her Routines option to kick off Scenes in the EISY and then appending the Govee devices, which are supported in Alexa. I suppose I could try to contact the devs in Github - not sure if anyone else has tried that...
  17. I have a few Govee devices (wifi light bulbs and 2 floor lights) and had them working on my EISY for a day or two, but then they stopped working. I even had them working in Scenes. They still work fine using the native Govee app and when using voice commands with Alexa. However, the EISY admin console was no longer showing any values for the 5 devices listed under the controller as of last night - no idea why. 1. I tried rebooting the EISY and also the node for Govee, and the PG3 from the web console. I also did the option to upgrade all packages and rebooted. 2. I tried deleting the controller and devices from EISY, deleting the node from PG3, and adding it all back, including the API key. 3. Once the plugin was reinstalled in the PG3 dashboard, showed connected, and the api key was added back, it did add the Govee node back to EISY and it shows "true". However, none of the 5 devices were rediscovered. 4. I then tried the add all nodes option from the Plugins/Govee menu in the EISY admin console. From what I can tell the node is running fine and communicating with EISY. but the devices are not being detected or added. Initially, they added themselves immediately once I had entered the api key, but not this time. I don't think the api key expires because the Govee node was free to download and install. How can I get troubleshoot to get the 5 devices to show back up and reconfigure them again? Thanks! Jim
  18. Okay so I had some time to try next steps today, but still no luck and I get the same errors. Both the PC and ISY are on the same physical switch and hardwired. I reseated both connections also. Java had lost its memory setting I had previously set, but I was not aware of the -Xms option, so I tried that, assuming that once it allocates the specified amount of memory at startup, it should retain it. I experimented with the amounts, and it seems like above 1200 and it doesn't load properly. It's not a memory limitation on the PC, though, because it has 64GB of memory installed. So, I left it at 1200 with the -Xms option. I backed up the Zwave and ISY again, and retried but got the exact same errors. I checked the error log and debug options but the only debug option is for the subscription and there are no errors logged since 3am this morning. 1. Is there a way to enable debugging or additional error logging that might provide more info about why it is failing to upgrade? 2. The backup (zipped), including zwave, is only 47KB. Does that sound correct? Seems quite small... Thanks!
  19. I finally got some time today to move forward with the ISY994 upgrade from 5.3.0 to 5.3.4. I backed up the Zwave config and ISY config and exported My Programs as suggested. However, when I attempt to do the actual upgrade, I'm running into two errors, shown in the attachments. I re-downloaded the zip file just to make sure that it wasn't damaged in transit but it failed with the same error. Any ideas? Thanks!
  20. Excellent! Thanks for the thorough information. Very helpful and appreciated!
  21. Thanks Geddy! Great point and I definitely overlooked the other release notes. A few quick questions: 1. Can I update directly from 5.3.0 to 5.3.4? 2. Will a full backup restore the 5.3.0 firmware if I need to revert for some reason, or just the configuration? If not, is it possible to downgrade the firmware if needed, although unlikely? thanks!
  22. Thanks for this information, Dennis. My devices are all Z-wave so it looks like it would be about a $450 investment plus some manual tweaking. I'll considerate the EISY for a future project and watch for discounts and sales. Unless this has changed, I've been holding off on upgrading the firmware because from the notes it doesn't look like there would be much of a benefit, and might require a lot of intervention, which is why I was thinking of holding off until I"m ready to mess with the EISY. From the notes on 5.3.4: "This build is just a small update. It contains a fix for unit conversion in program conditions." "Notes - Upgrading to this version may require a lot of manual intervention including verifying scenes, programs and program settings are correct. In some cases it will be easier to rebuild your network."
  23. Hi Dennis, My ISY is on firmware version 5.3.0 and I've attached the About info from the admin console. I'm open to upgrading etc. but I haven't looked into it in a while - just haven't had the time, and the last time I looked it up it sounded like something I didn't want to dive into because I didn't have time for disruption. 99% of the time it's solid. If it wasn't for Java always trying to update and break everything it would be rock solid. I was also considering maybe checking out the EISY and setting that up from scratch. The problem, though, I'm assuming, is that I'd have to remove devices from the ISY and add them gradually into the EISY. Might be worth doing but I haven't researched the benefits I'd get from upgrading. The ISY does pretty much everything I need at the moment, and the Mobile Lync app works fine as well.
  24. Thanks Techman. I was in the process of grabbing some screenshots and it started working again. Earlier the finder wouldn't find the ISY no matter what I tried - even with the latest version of the finder and all of the things I listed in my original post. Just now it worked using the full URL/desc. Odd because that definitely did not work at all earlier! I appreciate the reply, regardless.
  25. My admin console has stopped working again, and this time nothing seems to be bringing it back. I've reviewed similar threads on this forum, tried the troubleshooting steps in the wiki, etc. but none of the suggested steps are working. So far I've tried: 1. Rebooted the PC I'm accessing from. 2. Rebooted the ISY. 3. Verified in the portal the IP address and mac address. Everything works fine in the portal and the mobile app. 4. Power cycled the ISY. 5. Downloaded the newest IoX Finder. 6. Entered the IP address in the finder as http://192.168.0.4/desc 7. Cleared Java cache (all 3 boxes). 8. Added exceptions to Java for the IP address in both http and https, as well as for https://isy.universal-devices.com/, reset security prompts, etc. per the wiki. 9. Tried adding it by using the full console url with /desc, copied from the portal. 10. I am not running Norton or any VPN software. 11. Both my PC and the ISY are definitely on the same network and both have an IP address from the same DHCP server (disabled on the FIOS router, as I'm running DHCP in a Windows Server VM). Any other suggestions on how to regain access to the admin console? Thanks!
