  1. never mind. seems to have been related to an outage for the ISY portal. working now.
  2. I am used to Java updates breaking my configuration regularly, but this one appears to be a new issue - at least for me. I'm getting an XML Parse error when attempting to start up the admin console from the shortcut I always use. I have not made any changes. Java hasn't been updated since November and Temurin since about 3 weeks ago. I can't get into the ISY portal either. I saw in other threads where maybe my subscription lapsed, but I can't even log in to the portal to check the status. I tried downloading a new start file and pasting the full URL including the desc at the end, but it just says "not found". I tried power cycling the ISY and still get the same results. Any suggestions on what steps I can run through to regain access? Thanks!
  3. Maybe it's an intermittent or a load issue, but mine is still working for now. I verified it's still using the external address and port, not my internal address. I feel special.
  4. Mine seems to be back online now. Nothing I did on my end, unless the reboots had a very delayed effect, which is unlikely. The app gods must have straightened out something while we've all been chatting. Is it working now for anyone else, or did I just get lucky?
  5. Rebooted my iPhone and also the ISY. ISY continues to work fine, but no joy with my Orchestrated Mobilinc app.
  6. Hey Paul, my Orchestrated Mobilinc app is dead in the water also, but the everything else seems fine. Everything seems to work from the PC, and the ISY portal etc. all work fine, as well as Alexa integration. In my case it just seems like the Mobilinc app has been orphaned somehow. Was working fine yesterday. I haven't made any changes to ISY or the app, and I don't know whether I should update the firmware on my ISY or not. My version is 5.3.0. Which firmware version are you running?
  7. Just to clarify a couple things: 1. I used the admin console to create the program, by adding the devices and and/or statements. I'm not sure why adding it that way would leave out parentheses. 2. Earlier on I did have a few problematic devices or communication issues. Turns out that 2 devices were faulty. On one the z-wave functionality failed altogether. On the other it just didn't work well in a particular location. 3. My whole goal is just to ensure that the environment is optimized and to monitor it for any issues that may come up or need attention - before a device totally fails if possible. For example, I had a device work for weeks before it failed, but there were communication errors that led up to it, such as lack of replies when being queried. With monitoring, I might have had earlier notice and/or more detailed error info about the issue. 4. I was hoping to have a way to ensure that the mesh is/was optimized - especially after making changes. The update neighbors command runs, but I have no way to tell if it did anything, apparently. I'd like a way to re-run or recalculate the entire mesh, but it doesn't sound like that exists as far as running that command manually. 5. Since there is no way to optimize the mesh manually, and we just have to trust that all the automagic device communications and mesh calculations are optimized, I thought it would be nice to be notified about errors. And for bonus points, be able to translate those errors into something meaningful. But again, it sounds like it's not quite that simple. Bottom line - I've been using Z-wave for quite a while, but not the ISY, so I'm still learning about what it's capable of and where it lacks. I'm not a programmer but it seems to have a lot of functionality building if/then and/or etc. in the console, so I've been using that with a good amount of success so far. Thanks for all the input - just wanted to provide some more context on what I'm trying to accomplish.
  8. Okay thanks for the tips. My goal is just to be made aware of when a device is having trouble communicating, so in a way, the error codes are not that critical. As long as I only get alerts for devices that are having issues, I at least know to go check on that device. Thanks for the detailed information!
  9. My bad. I picked export to clipboard by mistake! Basically I just have it polling all devices once per day to see if they are not responding. There is probably a more efficient way to do this, but I was just trying to quickly test out the functionality. Here is the correct info, thx: Test Error Notifications - [ID 0003][Parent 0001] If Time is Sunset + 10 minutes And 'Back Yard Flood Light' Responding is False Or 'Bar Light' Responding is False Or 'Basement Door Light' Responding is False Or 'Cat Box Floor Lamp' Responding is False Or 'Cat Room Light' Responding is False Or 'Climacell Weather' NodeServer Online is False Or 'Curio Cabinet' Responding is False Or 'Family Room Floor Light' Responding is False Or 'Family Room Large Table Light' Responding is False Or 'Family Room Small Table Light' Responding is False Or 'Fireplace Light' Responding is False Or 'Fish Tank' Responding is False Or 'Foyer Light' Responding is False Or 'Foyer Outlet' Responding is False Or 'Front Lamp Post' Responding is False Or 'Gallery Small Table Light' Responding is False Or 'Gallery Table Light' Responding is False Or 'Globe' Responding is False Or 'Guest Room Table Lights' Responding is False Or 'Hutch Lights' Responding is False Or 'Kitchen Light' Responding is False Or 'Landscape Lights Left - Front' Responding is False Or 'Landscape Lights Patio - Back' Responding is False Or 'Landscape Lights Right Side' Responding is False Or 'Laundry Rm Undercabinet Light' Responding is False Or 'Living Room Lights' Responding is False Or 'Master Bedroom Desk Light' Responding is False Or 'Master Bedroom Hall Light' Responding is False Or 'Master Bedroom Table Lights' Responding is False Or 'Media Room Back Lights' Responding is False Or 'Media Room Floor Lamp' Responding is False Or 'Media Room Front Lights' Responding is False Or 'Orchid Light' Responding is False Or 'Party Lights' Responding is False Or 'Pinball Machine' Responding is False Or 'Porch Heater' Responding is False Or 'Rec Room Floor Light' Responding is False Or 'Rec Room Small Table Light' Responding is False Or 'Screened Porch Flood Light' Responding is False Or 'Screened Porch Railing Lights' Responding is False Or 'Screened Porch Wall Light' Responding is False Or 'Second Guest Room Small Light' Responding is False Or 'Server Rack Floor Lamp' Responding is False Or 'Upstairs Hallway Table Light' Responding is False Or 'Water Fountain' Responding is False Then Send Notification to 'Jim Ratsch' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
  10. Another quick question on this. Where do I look up the error codes? For example, I got both error 0 and error 1 for a device, but I don't know what the actual alert means. Often in the computer world, error code 0 = no error, but that wouldn't make sense here because my program was set to alert if a device was unresponsive. So basically, I got errors 0 and 1 both assumedly because the device was unresponsive - but the device seemed to be working fine. Any ideas? Thanks! 11. Okay thanks Mr. Bill. I mainly want to know if devices aren't responding so I set up a program for that. Thanks for the tip.
  12. I have the email notification feature already set up and working, and the test messages come through fine. What I'd like to do next is to have the system send me emails whenever there is an error or alert that warrants attention. Is there an easy way to do this? Maybe select level of severity as to which types of alerts to receive via email? Thanks!
  13. Thanks I’ll definitely try that. Ordered some new devices, easier than removing wall dimmer for the test. I can try the swap with the bad outdoor outlet that is portable. Thanks much for the help! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Oh okay thanks. Are there any ways to verify the causes of issues in the logs? Error interpretation etc? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Sorry did your answer get cut off? You were saying, unless? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I was reading some other threads and it does seem like there used to be an antenna but it was removed from more recent models and was not very effective. So I'm guessing the increased signal strength idea is a dead end. Regarding the other question about the network mesh: 1. Is there a way that I can just tell the whole mesh to heal or recalculate? Or is update neighbors the only way?
  17. I could try swapping two of the outdoor outlets (Honeywell). I also tried moving the controller from the basement in my server/network area to the home office. At first it seemed like the problem was fixed, because the outlet in the laundry room that almost never worked started working. But then, the same ones seemed to have problems again after I tried controlling them from the mobile app. I don't think it would be related to the mobile app itself because when I got back to the java app on the computer it has the same issues. Today I tried the repair links option on the "bad" devices and that didn't seem to do anything, although it appeared to run successfully. Edit: The other thing is that the ones that have issues do seem to work for the most part, except that I get the "bad message" error but yet still works. When that happens the console and mobile app don't show the status (on/off) yet it still managed to work. It's like the message makes it but the controller doesn't know it. It does seem like it is slightly better with the controller on the first floor, which makes me think it's still a signal strength issue. Is there any way to increase the signal and/or antenna strength on the controller itself? Mine doesn't have any kind of visible antenna like on a wifi device...
  18. Well I'll been building the network for several years, and initially had all the devices on my alarm.com controller. I migrated most of them over to the ISY over the last year or so. As far as brands, I have a variety, but most of the ones I've bought recently are GE. The ones that are giving me trouble are an outdoor Honeywell outlet (but I have several and only one has an issue where it works but doesn't send confirmations) and also two that are GE - one is a wall outlet and the other an in wall dimmer. For both of those I have many others of the same brand and type that work fine, which is why I'm thinking it has more to do with the network than the device brand. But that is just a hunch at this point because I'm not sure of the best way to diagnose the actual reason they aren't communicating well.
  19. I've got more than 50 z-wave devices added and working on my ISY994, and for the most part they work fine. There are several that I had to bring closer to the controller in order to add, and there are a few that seem to work, but they don't seem to respond back to the controller. And lastly there is one that doesn't work at all unless it's very close to the controller, and even then it's not totally reliable. I've read and reviewed lilyoyo1's tips and tricks which were generally helpful, but I was wondering if i could get some more suggestions on how to strengthen the mesh network, especially since there are plenty of active devices. Update neighbors doesn't seem to do anything to help from what I can tell. I've also tried the Repair option, which once in a while brings one back from ! to the lightbulb icon. I also tried adding the Aeotec repeater v7, but that actually seemed to make it worse. A bunch of devices started having communications problems. It's certainly possible that I didn't optimize it correctly, but the directions were very minimal. 1. Is there a way that I can just tell the whole mesh to heal or recalculate? Or is update neighbors the only way? 2. Is there a recommended repeater or multiple repeaters that I should consider? I don't mind spending some money to make it more reliable, but just need to know what is actually going to work. Thanks!
  20. Touche :-). I actually wasn't being lazy - I read that post earlier, but apparently overlooked that the Update Neighbors option appears per individual device, not in the Tools menu. Thanks.
  21. I've been reading through the various wikis and how to documents, and saw that the new admin console doesn't include the Heal commands in the menus - unless I've overlooked it somewhere. It's also mentioned in lilyoyo1's tips and tricks: "Once done, I will run a network heal. After that is done, I'm finished and can program to my heart's content. " As I'm getting started and adding more devices as I go along, is there a functional equivalent to this command to optimize the mesh, or another method to optimize it? Or, is this handled automatically in some way now? And of course, if I've overlooked it or it's been renamed, please point me in the right direction. Thanks!
  22. Thanks to you both for the information - much appreciated!
  23. I have the ISY portal set up and working. In the box with my order from Orchestrated Home (ordered ISY-994i Pro+ Zwave) was an insert sheet advertising Orchestrated Mobilinc. On the sheet, it says that is has “all the features and updates included with Mobilinc Pro”. On the app store for the iPhone, when I look up Orchestrated Mobilinc, it is available for $69.99, but there is also a bundle that includes both Orchestrated Mobilinc and Mobilinc Pro, for $79.99. Why would the bundle include Mobilinc Pro for $10 more, if “all the features and updates included with Mobilinc Pro” are already included in the Orchestrated Moblinc? Confused! Thanks for any info on this.
  24. Okay thanks. I think some are the older ones and some are Z-wave plus. Not sure about NWI. I'll experiment with it. If it turns out that a range extender/repeater makes sense, is there a particular brand/model that is preferred?
  25. I'm just getting started with my new ISY Pro+ with Z-wave and for starters added a plug in dimmer, created a scene, scheduled the scene etc. and so far so good. Currently, I have about 60 devices on another controller (alarm.com module). My plan is to get things working in the ISY and then gradually migrate things over. I noticed when adding the first device to the ISY that the range was quite poor, and I had to bring the plug in module to the same room in order to get it to find it and add it. Question: Will adding more devices improve the range due to the additional devices repeating the signal? Or, do I need to get a range extender? It's not a problem for plug in devices, but I have a bunch of wall switches where it would be much harder to get the controller close to them. thanks!
