hart2hart's experience and comments very well match my own, starting with the transition from X 10 to the SH introduction to ISY. In the early years with Insteon, I experienced product failures with a number of their modules, including the PLM. Product quality has definitely improved, and it has been maybe 5 years since I have experienced any Insteon module failures with one exception which was replaced under warranty.

Thanks to several of you for your reference to chip shortages as a likely explanation. I had read about it in the context of automobiles, computers, and the like, but failed to connect it to this issue. Perhaps the problem is even more pervasive than reported in the articles I have seen.

Based upon the increasing lack of available Insteon devices for sale, as well as the Insteon communications and other problems noted in the thread above, the question is whether Smart Labs is going to drop the Insteon product line entirely. Has anyone talk to them about possibly buying out Insteon? They certainly do not seem to want to pursue that line of business.

Excellent suggestions both. UDI support has always been very good, but so many others are so bad that product support is often the last place I think of to go for help. I did try unlinking and relinking the skill but, alas, that didn't help. So, on to UDI support. Thanks once again.

Bumbershoot, thanks again for your reply. I have rebooted everything in my house (including my ISY) multiple times. My ping times are similar to yours: Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 74ms, Maximum = 75ms, Average = 74ms Based upon your last line, regarding ISY Portal not resolving correctly, I am guessing that the best test of that would be to simply delete my account and create a new one. (Talk about what force!) Unless you know an easier way? And, again, thanks so much for your help.

As a follow-up to my original post, and in partial response to the reply of Bumbershoot (thank you), I have put my local Internet service through multiple tests. It is operating dependably with high reported upload and download times and low latency. I have been using it extensively for other purposes and have had no problems. My ISY appears to be working perfectly. My Ring doorbell, which is connected to Alexa (not through ISY) is working properly. MobiLinc Pro is working properly (through both cellular and wireless connections). My LAN is working without problem. As best I can tell, I have ruled out all of the other obvious potential causes of this problem, yet it still persists. Does anyone have any ideas what else I might test? Thanks in advance.

For at least the last three days, I have had difficulty accessing or using ISY Portal, especially to connect to Alexa. Often it will not connect to my ISY at all. When I am connected, at least briefly, I receive various error messages including 500, 501, and others I don't recall currently. At other times, the connections to Alexa are very slow and Alexa returns (several different) verbal error messages. Sometimes Alexa commands don't work at all. Other times they can take 1 to 10 minutes before execution. Is this a known issue?

1. Regarding OpenWeatherMap.org: it takes about one day for your registration with OpenWeatherMap.org to go into effect. It will show disconnected during that time but will later connect automatically. 2. But why is the OpenWeatherMap.org discussion contained in a Ring Polyglot Cloud discussion thread? Shouldn't there be a separate discussion thread for OpenWeatherMap.org or for simply Polyglot?

Paul and Brian, thank you both. Paul, I believe that I now understand that when you say creating a link through ISY, you mean creating a link by creating a Scene. Am I correct that that is the only way to create the link through ISY (other than, I suppose, creating a program)? if I have a three way light switch, shouldn't both of the two Insteon switches be both controllers and receivers. I just created a scene with a three way light switch and the Secondary switch is reflected as both controller and responder but the Primary switch is shown only as a responder. It is working perfectly well, so from a practical standpoint it doesn't matter but I am trying to understand the logic. Thanks again.

Paul, thanks very much for your response. Is the proper way to do create the links with ISY by using Link Management | Start Linking | Add devices found in links and remove existing links? Or, is there some other method?

I have Insteon devices and controllers which are linked directly through Insteon, but those links are not reflected in the right-hand Membership column in Administrative Console. I have run Query for numerous such items, with no success at all. Do I understand correctly that the right-hand Membership panel is supposed to reflect Insteon links between devices and controllers? If not, what is it supposed to show? What do I need to do in order to get it to reflect the linkages? Something other than right-click on the "is Controller for" and "is Responder to" categories and run query?

Follow-up for Paul and anyone else following this post: UD Support provided me with the answer. I had accidentally put a condition in the My Programs folder (at the very top) which was a false condition.

Paul, Thanks for that additional information. With reference to your additional questions: 1. I have programs which are date and time driven as well as others which are not. The time is in my console is accurate. 2. If I click "run THEN", I will get the green bar icon (not the solid green icon), but nothing will happen. If an IF event, including the passage of time, should trigger the THEN result, nothing happens whatsoever. The icon remains blank with no green, no red, just empty. 3. When I noticed that the programs had stopped working, all records of Last Run Time were lost/gone. Now the only ones which show up are those for which I clicked the "run THEN" command. 4. I ran a Log (UDReport). Based on that, the last time I can tell that any program ran was 11:00 AM Wednesday the 15th. The next timed program should have run at 1:00 PM that day, two hours later, but did not run and no programs ran thereafter. I can't recall anything significant happening during that two hour window and the UDReport Log shows nothing anomalous during the time. Interestingly, however, I did find what appears to be an anomalous line entry in the UDReport Log several hours later: a line which contains a value of -0- in the Insteon/X10 Device column, and entry of "null" in the Control column, a blank or no value at all in the Value column, and the entry "Start" in the Log Type column. Any other thoughts? Bad ISY? Thanks again. Ed

Paul, a correction to my last message: The device with the 1011 icon was a remote that I still haven't reconnected, so that icon showed up properly. My EZFlora sprinklers are properly showing up in the dialogue as well as in the Main tab of the Administrative Console. Ed

Paul, 1. Yes, I CAN control Insteon devices from the ISY. 2. My ISY DOES recognize changes from the Insteon devices so that it properly reports their status even when the changes are made at the switch. (I believe this is contrary to what you may have anticipated by your question.) 3. In the PLM Links Table, it shows 58. I can't quite do what you ask with the ISY Links Table because it forces me to choose one particular device. (It appears that all of my devices are listed properly in the dialogue where it is forcing me to make that choice although, interestingly, my EZFlora sprinklers show up in that dialogue with the 1011 icon even though they are properly recognized as reflected in the Main tab of the Administrative Console. Thank you for your prompt response and any additional leads you can provide. Ed

All of my programs stop working two days ago. My administrative console appears to be working fine. I can control all of my Insteon devices through the console and the console reports their status correctly. I can change, save, and backup programs. But, none of the programs whatsoever are working any longer. I made no known changes to the system when the problem started, although I did not notice the problem immediately. I am using ISY 994i Pro. After discovering the problem, I have tried the following: Rebooting the ISY. Upgrading to firmware version 4.7.3. Installing a brand-new Insteon PLM (following the "Replace Modem (PLM)" instructions exactly). Does this mean my ISY has stopped working properly?

LeeB, Thanks much. The programming error is obvious now that you pointed out. And, likewise, thanks for your other comment. I was using shorthand, but you are right--that's not such a good idea. I have tried to create several programs designed to wait a certain period of time, e.g. five minutes, and then call a second program to check the status (of the garage door) and, if the garage door remains open, to send me a notification that it has been open more than five minutes. Unfortunately, somehow the notification goes out immediately without any wait time. The following is one example: Program 1: Garage Door Opening If garage door sensor [sensor number] is switched off Then Wait 5 minutes Run Program “Garage Door Still Open†Else No Actions Program 2: Garage Door Still Open If Status garage door sensor [sensor number] is off Then Send Notification [with selected addressee set and message] Else No Actions Immediately upon Program 1 being triggered, the notification is sent with no wait or delay. Is this a bug in the system or some error in my programming? Is there a workaround? Thanks in advance. Ed
