  1. Thank you for an amazingly fast and seamless service experience when I upgraded my 99i to 994i! I sent an email to sales@universal-devices.com just after midnight (pacific time) and someone replied at 2AM. I ordered the new ISY that morning, it shipped that afternoon, and it arrived the next day! The upgrade wiki instructions were simple and the new ISY restored perfectly within minutes. I sent an email at 9PM about transferring my modules, expecting it to be done the following day, and I received a confirmation email that the transfer was complete within minutes! Michel, kudos for creating such an efficient and responsive team!
  2. Your absorption factor is set at 40% (0.5in -> 0.2 allowable depletion), so 1 inch of rain will subtract 0.4" from your Irrigation Requirement I believe it is runoff I don't believe there is a way to setup different absorption zones. You'll have to compensate by irrigating longer or setting up a program to irrigate 1 zone more frequently. This was my setup for different irrigation requirements (post 3): viewtopic.php?f=26&t=10674
  3. Hello, I live in San Diego and I find that the ISY calculated evapotranspiration is inaccurate for me, usually either too low on hot days and too high on overcast days. I came to this conclusion based on CIMIS data (http://wwwcimis.water.ca.gov/cimis/welcome.jsp) and an independent Davis weather station in San Diego (http://www.stationpabloco.com/). These two sources had nearly identical daily evapotranspiration numbers over the last week when we had 2 extremes of weather: 4/14-4/15 almost complete cloud cover with some occasional drizzles and 4/16-4/19 with no clouds and highs in the 80's. For the days of complete cloud cover, the CIMIS reported ETo 0.04 and 0.02 and the sunny days were 0.13, 0.21, 0.24, 0.24 (stationpabloco had nearly identical values). The ISY calculated evapotranspiration values were 0.09 and 0.07 for the drizzly days and 0.13-0.15 for the sunny warm days: too high for sunless rainy days and too low for sunny hot days. My weatherbug station was pointed at the weatherbug backyard station data posted by stationpabloco (5 minute polling interval), so data should be identical. I tried a different weatherbug station before and found it was inaccurate, thats why I switched to stationpabloco last week because it calculates ETo on its website and has weatherbug backyard station data available to my ISY which should theoretically be identical. I reviewed the ISY evapotranspiration algorithm. Does the algorithm use a static historical monthly average solar radiation in its calculation? Would that explain why the calculated ETo for sunless rainy days is too high (actual solar radiation much lower due to cloud cover than the historical monthly average), and the ETo for unusually sunny/hot days is too low (actual solar radiation on sunny hot day much higher than the historical monthly average)? Any suggestions for me to try to make the calculation more accurate?
  4. Yes to both questions. Your program will trigger when 0.5" is required, but only 0.2" will be subtracted since that is how much the soil absorbs according to the absorption factor you set. After your program runs, the irrigation requirement will be 0.3". The utility of having an absorption factor is that it'll correct calculate the soil absorption from rainfall. If that's too much calculating, just set absorption to 100%.
  5. Here's my solution to irrigating different zones that required different watering requirements. Your question was automatically adjusting irrigation times, I don't have a program set for that exact scenario. This doesn't automatically adjust how long to water your different zones, but allows you to water different zones at different frequencies. Hopefully it might help in your case or at least give you another idea to try: I have 3 zones in my setup and 1 Variable: 1-Cycle Zone 2-Cycle Zone 4-Cycle Zone IrrigationCounter variable Essentially, 1-cycle zone is for ETo of 0.5, 2-cycle zone is for ETo of 1.0, and 4-cycle zone is for ET0 of 2.0 At the completion of 1-Cycle Zone, it runs the "cycle complete" command, adds +1 to the IrrigationCounter variable, then runs the "if" 2-Cycle Zone (which runs only if the IrrigationCounter is 2 or 4). When 2-cycle zone runs, it triggers 4-cycle zone, which only runs if the irrigation counter is 4. At the completion of 4-cycle zone, it resets IrrigationCounter to 0. I'm open to comments of suggestions to improve my irrigation program set. 1-Cycle Req Met If Time is Sunrise - 2 hours And ( ( Module 'Climate' Irrigation Requirement > 0.5 inches And Module 'Climate' Rain Today < 0.1 " ) ) Then Run Program 'Run 1-Cycle Sprinklers' (Then Path) Run 1-Cycle Sprinklers If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Set 'Landscape / Irrigation 1-2: SideStripLawn' On Wait 15 minutes Set 'Landscape / Irrigation 1-2: SideStripLawn' Off Irrigation - Cycle Complete $IrrigationCounter += 1 Run Program '2-Cycle Req Met' (If) 2-cycle Req Met If $IrrigationCounter is 2 Or $IrrigationCounter is 4 Then Run Program 'Run 2-Cycle Sprinklers' (Then Path) Run 2-Cycle Sprinklers If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Set 'Landscape / Irrigation 2-6: Mango, Orange' On Wait 3 minutes Set 'Landscape / Irrigation 2-6: Mango, Orange' Off Run Program '4-Cycle Req Met' (If) 4-cycle Req Met If $IrrigationCounter is 4 Then Run Program 'Run 4-Cycle Sprinklers' (Then Path) 4-Cycle Spinklers If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Set 'Landscape / Irrigation 2-1: Succulents' On Wait 15 minutes Set 'Landscape / Irrigation 2-1: Succulents' Off $IrrigationCounter = 0
  6. I plan to create a program where doorbell pushed and away mode = attack dog barking inside the house
  7. A startup program runs when the isy powers back on, right? Wouldn't a notification at startup will only occur when the power returns to the ISY? It won't notify me when the power goes down and wont run if the ISY stays powered via UPS throughout the black out. Maybe I'm missing something here.
  8. I power my ISY, router, and modem with an UPS. I am also interested in getting a notification if the power goes out. Any updates on detecting a power outage? Perhaps a program to detect if 2 (or 3) Insteon devices on different circuits are all unreachable, send notification of likely power outage.

I use Avast and I don't feel comfortable completely disabling the scanning feature permanently. My solution is to temporarily stop the real-time web shield. If you open up Avast, click Real-Time Shields, click Web Shield, click Stop and select the time frame you will be accessing the ISY from your computer. I usually pick 10 minutes, occasionally the 1 hour option. This eliminates mucking around with the ports and the web shield automatically turns back on if I forget to re-enable it.
  10. Thanks for the link! Looks like you'll need one for each shade or group (splicing wires) and can get a bit pricey if you have a lot of shades or groups. I might use it if I add an additional shade/group in the future, but I think I'll stick to using the remote for now. I like the outlet controlled RF adapter but it is also very pricey from a per group standpoint (http://www.automatedshadestore.com/shop ... id487.html)
  11. Could you clarify what you mean by dry contact interface to each shade? I didn't know how to open the motor in the shade or where to attach the wires on the shades themselves. I would prefer to hardwire the relays directly to the shades since one problem with using the remote is that the signal doesn't always reliably reach all the shades all the time. Also hardwiring the shades would allow more control over a potentially unlimited number of individual shades rather than being limited by 4 groups
  12. Gotta clear the java temporary file cache under control panel, on all your computers
  13. I have the weatherbug module and recently purchased the irrigation module. Unfortunately, the irrigation add-on doesn't appear in my climate tab. It didn't appear when I had firmware 3.1.7, I just updated to 3.1.9 now and it still doesn't show up. When I click purchase modules, it shows that I purchased the irrigation module, when I click manage modules, it says they are up to date. Under help about, the product info lists Open-ADR and Weather Information only. Is there a way to force the module to be downloaded again?
  14. Is the Irrigation Module discount code no longer active? Wasn't able to apply it on google checkout over Labor Day weekend
  15. "Garage Door Opener Button Reset" is a program that detects when the "Garage Door Opener Button" is turned ON. For some reason, even though its on Momentary C, the status remains ON long after the momentary contact is made. So I created a monitoring program "Reset" which detects the ON status, waits 5 minutes then turns it OFF. The program starts nearly instantly as soon as I pressed the KeypadLinc. Last night I had tried a "wait 1 second" for the exterior light control since the reset program seemed to start running instantaneously and the garage contact takes additional second for the garage door to move enough to activate, but that didn't work. Today I just tried wait 3 seconds and that seemed to work fine. So I just have a 4 second delay on the lights (1 second for the garage door to move enough to turn the contact ON, then 3 seconds to check to make sure it wasn't pressed from the KeypadLinc) Ideas for a more elegant solution would be welcome.
