Pretty sure I asked this question a year ago and was told the software was not available.

Is there a way to access the Elk with a Macbook Pro? And is there a company that will act as a central monitoring station for the Elk? I just don't have a lot of time to mess with this system.
-
We have an ISY system with many switches installed by the previous owner and have finally gotten the hang of working with it. The previous owner also installed an Elk M1 security system but have not been able to connect with it thru my Macbook and not all the devices needed to provide the security we would prefer were installed by the previous owner. We do not care to figure out how to add these devices or to play with the Elk M1. Given that, we have received quotes from 3 companies on upgrading the system with added features and monitoring. All of these involve removing the Elk M1 system and some options are wireless. I am wondering if anyone else has a wireless security system installed by a company and if they have had any issues with that wireless security system interfering with their ISY/insteon lighting system. Thought I'd ask before taking this leap. Thanks for any input!

I have the ISY994i and realized that lights that the ISY programs have not been running this last week. I logged in to the ISY and it said it was in safe mode. Tried to reboot the PLM, as it appeared there was no indicator light on. I unplugged it for 10 sec and plugged back in. Having done this before, I know I should here a beep and should hold button till it stops after plugging in, but this time there was absolutely no sound and no light. Should I assume the PLM is bad or is there something else I should try first? Thanks!

I haven't had any luck getting 2 of my 8 button keypads operating again and am assuming they are shot. Hasn't been urgent to get these going yet and was waiting for SH Memorial Day Sale at 20% off so am now ready to order. In addition to the keypads, I am getting some switches. Does it matter if I purchase the dimmer or on/off switches? I assume from what I read the dimmer switches have the function of on/off with the bonus of a dimmer. I can get a 4 pack of dimmers, 2477D, or a 5 pack of on/off, 2477S, at a considerable savings compared to ordering individual switches. I know I have 2 that are acting up and thought I'd order a pack to have some extras on hand. I don't need the dimmers in a couple of places but ordering by the pack is cheaper in the long run. Thoughts?

Thanks so much! ISY is back up and communicating. Still looks like I have lost 2 8 button key pads. These are original to the house so I am guessing they must be 9 years old. Probably a need to update them anyway, unfortunately.

?? I was just following the instructions above to reset the PLM. So are you saying I need to power down the ISY, then unplug the PLM, reset it, and then power up the ISY? Sorry.... I am most definitely a newbie with this!
-
I attempted to restore the PLM. It beeped at me as I plugged it back in with reset button pressed and power light came on instantly. You mentioned it would be several seconds before the status light comes on so not sure if it truly reset or not. I clicked on restore modem. A progress window popped up and when it gets to about 7% the progress window just disappears so I am not sure if it just stopped or is continuing to restore and I can't see it. Thoughts? **** Found info on PLM that said to plug back in with button held till beeping stops so I did that. This time it did appear to reset. However, I still have had not luck with restore on the ISY software and the progress bar disappears so am not sure what it is doing. Not sure what to do at this point. As for the keypads, I have only had success in getting power back to one, and it does operate the main light assigned to it but nothing that is programmed to rest of buttons.
-
So how will this affect the programming and switches in ISY? Will I have to restore all of those, too, or add them back in?
-
All switches were working and ISY could communicate with them before power outage. When power was restored all switches are operational except for 3 keypads. These appeared to not even have power to them. Have since fixed one with reset in above post so it at least operates main light. However, the ISY is not communicating with ANY switches. The ISY has no error lights on it and the PLM power light is on. I have not tried a reset on ISY or PLM as we are unsure how to do that.
-
Ah....I see what you are saying. I did that with the one keypad switch to see what would happen and have the switch functioning for the main load. But within the ISY software there is a red exclamation point beside every switch, including the keypad switch. The ISY is not communication with the switches. And it would take me quite awhile to try to reset 40+ switches. Do I need to do something to reset the ISY and try to get it communication with switches?
-
I have not and could use some instruction on how to do that. We purchased the house with this system in place and we just don't mess with it very much until forced to. Usually it ends up being long enough between times we have to deal with it that we have forgotten what we did before.
-
OK....success in getting the one keypad I tried to work using the above method. However, I still have red exclamation points beside every switch so know the ISY is not communicating with the switches. Given that, I don't believe restore will work. What can I try to get the system communicating with switches? Again, there are no error lights showing on the ISY and the PLM power light is on.
-
The power LED on the PLM is on and there are no error lights on the ISY indicating any issues. Any suggestions as to what to try first?
-
I have tried that but to no avail. In addition, after finally getting the software to load, I am showing all red exclamation points beside all switches. I am using the ISY994i system. Never had this happen before. We bought the home with this system, so I am not sure what to do.

Hi, Our power was out today for a couple of hours, and when it came back up our 6 and 8 button keypads appear to have no power to them. This happened once before and somehow I got them to work but don't remember how. Seems odd that they would have all just suddenly died at the same time with the power outage. Thanks for any assistance you can give!

The address of the malfunctioning device is not there, but as added above the new one showed up once I logged out and back in. We had an issue a couple of months ago with what we assumed was a major power outage as we arrived home with all lights on in the house. A neighbor also had issues with a power surge the same weekend, and we know there was a storm so are guessing there may have been a nearby lightning strike. This particular 8 button KPL has had issues in the past (V1.4) so decided we would just upgrade to a new switch. We are using Firmware v.4.2.30 and UI v.4.3.26. It bothers me, too, that the switch just disappeared from the display. We purchased the house with switches installed and some programming written. Trying to be sure that old switch is not still in any programs. Weird.

I have the ISY994i and needed to replace an 8 button KPL with a new switch(2334-22). The old one was malfunctioning and had disappeared from the admin console. I was fine starting from scratch and adding new scenes for buttons that would be different from the old switch. I did the usual and clicked Link Management then New Insteon Device and typed in the address and added a name. I let the system auto discover the device and remove existing links(though it's a brand new switch). The device chirped at me so I know the system recognized it. However, it is not showing up anywhere in the admin console. How can I locate this switch in the system so that I can actually use it? ****Solved my own problem by logging out and logging back in. Haven't had to do that before.*****

The main button is operating the designated light. And the rest of the buttons appear to function as they light goes on and off when pressed. Just can't seem to add it to the system.

Still working thru power outage issues…..I have another 8 button keypad that seems to have been eliminated from the ISY994i entirely. It is 2486D v 1.2 so not a dual band switch. I have tried just adding it as a new switch, but the ISY says it can't communicate with the switch. Is this because it is not a dual band switch so I need to purchase a new one?

Have searched but am not finding reason for green tag with 1101 listed beside switch. What does this mean?

Restarted my computer before seeing this and am up and running again. Thanks!
