Resolved. Thank you.

Today, my ISY 99i stopped working. The red light on it is blinking, and when I open up the admin console, it's just a big blank blue screen. It won't let me do anything. I've restarted the computer and also unplugged and plugged the ISY back in several times. Can anyone help please? Thanks!

That is what I'm looking to do. I already have an iPhone and use Mobilinc. I'd just like to be able to turn the heat on/off as I walk in/out the door.
-
Is it possible to use a single button on my kpl to turn my heat on and off? How would this be accomplished? When warm weather rolls back around, I'd like to use the same button to turn the AC on and off. I have a Venstar with the Insteon dongle. Thanks!

Wow. That sounds complicated. I was going to use this: http://www.smarthome.com/31427/Add-A-Mo ... tor/p.aspx This would be plugged into the OutletLinc and controlled by an on/off command.

in about a month, I plan on installing an automatic chicken coop door. I'm planning on using an OutletLinc to control the motor. I was wondering if anyone here has done this, and if so, what does your program look like?

When I installed my EZFlora, I only had 4 zones, so I deleted the extra 4 from my ISY. What's the easiest way to get these zones to show back up in the ISY admin? Do I need to re-link?

I set up a couple of programs to turn on my motion sensor at night when I approach my front door. I used an example found elsewhere on this forum, but it doesn't seem to work. It doesn't seem to sense any motion. Can someone guide me in the right direction? First program: If From Sunrise - 10 minutes To Sunset + 10 minutes (same day) Then In Scene 'Front Porch Motion-Sensor' Set 'Porch Lights' 0% (On Level) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') 2nd program: If From Sunset + 10 minutes To Sunrise - 10 minutes (same day) Then In Scene 'Front Porch Motion-Sensor' Set 'Porch Lights' 70% (On Level) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') On the MS itself, I have all jumpers in the off position. Thanks!

Proposed Evapotranspiration Algorithm in 3.1.4 Beta

Is there a tutorial or wiki entry on how to use the new module? I've searched and can't seem to find it. Maybe when new modules are purchased a link to the wiki entry can be posted with the email receipt? Thanks! -
I'd like to be able to program a KPL button to toggle either heat or AC on using my Venstar T1800 with Dongle. Is this possible, and how is it best accomplished? My ultimate goal is to turn the heat or AC on/off as I either come in my home or leave it. Would it be possible to do this all from one button on the KPL?

Thanks! Glad to know it is a basic program. I've already changed the maximum run time.

I've recently purchased and installed an EZFlora. I'd like to set up different programs where I can execute a program from my iPhone and not have to worry about forgetting to turn off my zones. I've set up a simple program below that will irrigate each zone for 60 minutes. I was hoping you all could tell me if this will work. If it does, I'd like to set up different programs for different amounts of times, and different zone combinations. If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Set 'Irrigation / Veg Z1' On Wait 60 minutes Set 'Irrigation / Veg Z2' On Wait 60 minutes Set 'Irrigation / Cottage/Foundation' On Wait 60 minutes Set 'Irrigation / Japanese Garden' On Wait 60 minutes Set 'Irrigation / Japanese Garden' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

I just removed the thermostat dongle and now the motion sensor works. It did not work prior to removing the dongle. They seem to be related, at least in my case. This certainly explains why I couldn't get a new motion sensor to link a few days ago, after working at it for almost 45 minutes. I'll try tomorrow to see if this new sensor links. Off to work right now.
-
I have a motion sensor that stopped working the same day that my thermostat lost communication with my ISY. This is the very first time (after three months of having it installed) that my thermostat has lost communication. I also have a couple of switchlincs that seemed to have lost communication as well. Haven't had time to troubleshoot yet, though.

Different Light Bulb Types and Impact on INSTEON
Avonlea22 replied to Michel Kohanim's topic in Insteon
I recently purchased some of those same bulbs. I like them. They put out a nice amount of light and the color is good. But, I've decided to go the LED route. I know the upfront cost is more, but why pay for 27 watts when I can get away with 9 watts for the same amount of light as that 27 watt halogen or a 40 watt incandescent? -
My wife has to be up at 3am to get ready for work. I recently installed EcoSmart LED lights in my bathroom as well as a SwitchLinc dimmer. I wanted a program that would run weekdays at 3am so that when she turned the lights on, they would come on at a low level and slowly ramp up to about 75% (as 100% is just too bright for pretty much any time of day). The following program accomplishes this. I had a lot of help from memebrs of this forum, so I really can't take credit for the programming side, but I did want to share it with others. Basically, between the hours of 3am and 5am, if my SwitchLinc dimmer is turned on, the lights will come on at 35% and over an 8 minute period, ramp up to 75%. At any other time, they will come on at 75% with a .3 second ramp. I have my SwitchLinc labelled Master Bath Can Lights. I have this SwitchLinc in a scene called Early AM MB Can Lights as a Controller. The switchlinc is set with a 75% on level and .3 sec ramp rate for local control. The scene is set with a 75% on level and a 8 minute ramp rate. The switchlinc IS controlling the load locally. Program 1: If On Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri From 3:00:00AM To 5:00:00AM (same day) Then In Scene 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' Set 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' 35% (On Level) In Scene 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' Set 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' 0.3 Sec (Ramp Rate) Else In Scene 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' Set 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' 75% (On Level) In Scene 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' Set 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' 0.3 Sec (Ramp Rate) Program 2: If On Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri From 3:00:00AM To 5:00:00AM (same day) And Control 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' is switched On And Control 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' is not switched Off Then Wait 1 second Set Scene 'Early AM MB Can Lights' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') There is also a "fast Off" program as well. This allows the lights to go off immediately, rather than at the 8 minute ramp rate. If Control 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' is switched Off Then Set 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' Fast Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

I'm happy to report that the program executed properly this morning. My wife was pleased as punch not to be blinded at 3am. Thanks to EVERYONE that helped me out with this problem. I sure wish I had known about the ramp rate limitation when I started, as that may have prevented a lot of frustration. Thanks again, all!
-
Ok, I changed the ramp rate to 8 minutes (shouldn't there be a notation about this in the ISY programming screen itself?) and I've done the testing. Both scene and program 2 are acting correctly. I think we might finally have it. Thank you guys so much. I literally have spent hours trying to get this to work. I'll keep you all posted if anything should not work properly. Thank you!!!

Ok, so my wife said it didn't work. She said "they came on dim and then went straight to blinding bright" Here is my programs, which I believe are exactly the same as the post above. I have my switchlinc labelled Master Bath Can Lights. I have this switchlinc in a scene called Early AM MB Can Lights as a Controller. The switchlinc is set with a 75% on level and .3 sec ramp rate for local control. The scene is set with a 75% on level and a 9 minute ramp rate. The switchlinc IS controlling the load locally. Program 1: If On Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri From 3:00:00AM To 5:00:00AM (same day) Then In Scene 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' Set 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' 35% (On Level) In Scene 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' Set 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' 0.3 Sec (Ramp Rate) Else In Scene 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' Set 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' 75% (On Level) In Scene 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' Set 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' 0.3 Sec (Ramp Rate) Program 2: If On Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri From 3:00:00AM To 5:00:00AM (same day) And Control 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' is switched On And Control 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' is not switched Off Then Wait 1 second Set Scene 'Early AM MB Can Lights' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I've left the "fast Off" program as well. This is it: If Control 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' is switched Off Then Set 'Bathrooms / Master Bath Can Lights' Fast Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') The "off hours" is working fine. The lights come on at 75% at a .3 sec ramp. Do you guys see that I'm missing anything? Oh, and I did some organizing last night, so the switchlinc is now in a folder called Bathrooms"
-
Thank You! I've created these new programs and everything is enabled. My wife is the tester, as she's the one that has to get up at 3am (hehehe). I'll ask her in the morning how things worked for her and will post results.
-
So then what is Michel referring to?
-
I don't see anywhere where I can choose "On Level" or "Ramp Rate" when I'm creating the program. Under Action in the program screen I should be choosing Insteon from dropdown, right? Then I'd choose my switch, not a scene. The dropdown only gives me options for Level, Beep Duration and Backlight Level. Here is what is showing up for me: If On Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri From 3:00:00AM To 5:00:00AM (same day) Then Set 'Master Bath Can Lights' 35% Else Set 'Master Bath Can Lights' 75% So what am I missing?
-
Ok, still can't seem to get this to work. I'm going to post all of my programs I currently have in place, and maybe someone can see where my error(s) are. What I'm trying to accomplish is from Monday Through Friday, when the switchlinc is turned on between 3am and 5am, I want the lights to come on at 35% and ramp up to 75% over a 9 minute period. At any other time, I want the ramp rate to be .3 seconds and the lights to come on at 75%. I always want the lights to do a Fast off, no matter what time of day it is. "Master Bath Can Lights" is the name of my switchlinc. Program 1 If On Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri From 3:00:00AM To 5:00:00AM (same day) And Control 'Master Bath Can Lights' is not switched Off Then Set Scene 'Early Morning MB Lights' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') program 2: If Control 'Master Bath Can Lights' is switched Off Then Set Scene 'Early Morning MB Lights' Fast Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') program 3: If On Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri Time is 2:59:00AM Then In Scene 'Early Morning MB Lights' Set 'Master Bath Can Lights' 30% (On Level) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Program 4: If On Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri Time is 5:00:00AM Then In Scene 'Early Morning MB Lights' Set 'Master Bath Can Lights' 75% (On Level) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I currently have the Master Bath Can Lights as part of a scene (responder). The local settings is 75% at .3 sec ramp. The scene name is Early Morning MB Lights. with my latest efforts, I was able to get the lights to come on at 75% without pausing at 30% briefly, but now it seems like during the times between 3am and 5am, the lights do not start out at the 30%. btw, thank you all for your input thus far. I'm slowly learning some of this stuff. It's a lot more difficult than I thought it would be.
-
Ok, so I'm working on this now, but still have some questions. Since the local level of the switchlinc is set at 30% (per suggestion from previous post), how is this addressed on weekends? Should I remove that 30% from local level? Also, it appears hat these two programs are in addition to the one I currently have, which is posted above? EDIT: Hold the train. I think I may have it now. testing....

Ugh. I don't get it. I can't get this to work. So then do I have to now re-write the entire program that does work just to make a second program?
