  1. Thanks Rand - I won't have more then 50 devices. I'll go with the non Pro Now I need to decide on the IR. From reading the forums there was going to be an IR transmit feature but it appears to be shelved (or at least on the back burner), I'm guessing due to smarthome coming out with the IRLinc. I'll go with the non IR (If the feature is released it will be an add on component anyway. So, no reason to get it now. Thanks again
  2. I'm Just about to order my ISY (Now that Homeseer offers what appears to be a very reliable plug in for the ISY). I usually go overboard on everything I buy but as I grow older I realize it's just a waste. Is the Pro version really necessary in a residential home? Over a thousand devices/scenes and a thousand programs! The non Pro offers 256 devices, who has more then 256 devices in their home? Is there any other advantage of the Pro version besides capacity? Thanks
  3. Thank you for your candid response Michel. I will continue to watch this excellent forum and also take a look at the other options you mentioned.
  4. Does it make sense to keep Homeseer and run the ISY with it? I have a fairly elaborate dependable system in place for about 10 years (70% X10 and 30% Insteon) with lots of conditionals and scenes. All my Insteon devices are in X10 mode because Homeseer has always been struggling with Insteon and now they no longer support it. I've been hearing this Forum and the Homeseer forum speak about plugins for each other's application. Do we really need a plugin? Can't I just get an ISY and program all my Insteon devices. Then send a virtual X10 trigger from homeseer to the ISY which would then send the Insteon commands and visa versa? An example would be for the ISY to receive an Insteon motion detect. If the action is to turn on Inteon devices then the ISY would do the work directly to the Insteon device "AND" alert Homeseer by sending a virtual X10 command. So Homeseer would know we had a motion detect and can execute some of the features that the ISY cannot . Such as scripting, zwave and elaborate conditionals. What are the downfalls of running both these systems together? Thanks for any help in making me understand this more clearly.
  5. I've been reading the on this forum for about two months and decided to join to learn more and hopefully return knowledge from my experiences. I've read so much about the customer service. When I tried to register on the forum I had a problem with registration (I was viewed as a spam-bot). Bottom line, I made a phone call and who did I get on the phone? You got it, Michel Kohanim. Not only did he take care of my registration problem but he took the time to answer several questions I had. I was thinking..."how does this guy have the time to explain basics to a newbie, like myself?" I did not feel rushed or insignificant like many other companies make you feel. I think jgraziano got it right...He's not real, he's a machine.
